Fronting an eight-day weight-driven five pillar movement, rack strike of a bell and anchor escapement. The case with fret worktop, cast bezel and brass reeded columns, the archtop trunk with flame veneer and panelled base 222cm high
J WADLETON OF DEVONPORT; an early 19th century mahogany cased longcase clock, the arched dial set with Roman numerals, subsidiary Arabic numeral seconds dial and rolling date aperture, engraved 'Tempus Fugit' beneath bird with further foliate detail, the case with barleytwist quarter columns on plinth base and associated bracket feet, height 213cm.Additional InformationThe turned columns either side of the hood are associated later replacements, there are splits to the arch of the hood, the dial has scratches, marks and discolouration, hands later replaced, the trunk also with splits, the lower base with a split to the front through the panel, the foot section associated as stated, further general wear throughout.
A MEISSEN GROUP OF A REARING STALLION AND MOORISH GROOM SECOND HALF 18TH CENTURY modelled by Johann Joachim Kändler (1706-1775) the groom holding the horse by the reins and wearing a lilac tunic and plumed turban the trunk support and base applied with flowers and leaves underglaze blue crossed swords mark 26cm high some restoration The model is probably that listed by the Parisian marchand-mercier Lazare-Duvaux in June 1753 as ‘un cheval de porcelaine de Saxe avec une figure à côté’. A ‘Mohr mit Pferd’ is also mentioned in the ‘Konditorei’ of Count von Brühl the same year. A rare Au Nain Bleu presentation dolls trunk, French circa 1900, the light tan and brown faux-leather trunk with dark brown studded straps, leather carry handles and metal clasp lock with original key and original metal label above that reads "AU NAIN BLEU/PARIS, 406, 408, 410 Rue St-Honore, 1 et 3, Rue Richepance, Ancien: 27/Bd Des Capucines" hinged top opening to white paper lined interior with lift-out tray and two sections below for doll and clothing, (condition: good), 9 ½” (24cm) tall, 17 ¼” (44cm) wide.

A RUSSIAN PORCELAIN FIGURE OF A PEASANT DRINKING FROM A KOVSH, KUZNETSOV PORCELAIN FACTORY, TVER, LATE 19TH CENTURY realistically modeled peasant sitting on a trunk next to a barrel of water, holding a kovsh with both hands, dressed in a white peasant shirt with red trim and blue breeches and lapti, seated on an oval floor-like base; impressed M.S. Kuznetsov factory mark, numerals 1276 and 12, and inscribed Baron de Baye under base; overall height: 18 cm (7 1/8 in.) LOT NOTESThe inscription likely refers to Baron Joseph de Baye (1853-1931) who was initially an amateur archaeologist from the Champagne region of France, but at the turn of the twentieth century, commissioned by the French government to collect ceramics in the Russian Empire. Upon his return, he acquired a considerable amount of Russian folk art pieces and gave public lectures on Russia's ethnographic treasures in Paris. The Baron and his daughters donated his extensive collection to many French museums including the Musee Cernuschi, Musee d'Histoire Naturelle, Musee Guimet, Musee du Louvre, Musee des Antiquites nationales de Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Musee de Sevres.
