A Louis Vuitton cabin trunk with monogram print exterior, the cream cloth interior with stamped hangers and leather pulls to the four drawers, the locks stamped, bears various old luggage labels and others relating to the owner.( Provenance: Major V.H Jones later Col. Victor Jones 14th Kings Hussars, the vendors grandfather) CONDITION REPORTS Numerous surface scratches, scuffs and knocks to the outside. Some tears to the leather. Dents to all the metal corner protectors. Tears to the leather and areas of loss to the leather. Numerous accretions, dust, dirt, etc, paint and chalk. Remnants of old travel labels. Rust and tarnishing on the metal banding. Fading, discolouration and staining. The cloth interior is dirty with accretions and black marks. Some areas of foxing and some small tears to the material and some areas of loss, mainly to the corners of the drawers. Some rust to the metal hinges. A tear to the top leather pull on the top drawer. Signs of mildew on some of the hangers. The inner lining is starting to come away from the edge in places. Some nails missing on the metal corner protectors. A metal protector for one of the wooden strips is missing. Item has wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
An early 18thC oak longcase clock, with moulded and turned pillared hood, moulded arch door to trunk, quarter inset with plain columns, plain base and moulded plinth, the 30cm brass dial having rococo cast spandrels, Roman hour and Arabic minute numerals to the chapter ring, the matted centre having date crescent and tablet marked in script Eliz Boot SUTTON, 30 hour movement, 203cm H. Retailers label inside for C E Cooke, Watchmaker & Jeweller, Market Street, Bingham. Elizabeth Boot of King Street, Sutton In Ashfield was the sister of John Boot (1730-1780) apprentice to her father, became full clock maker in 1792, married Richard Foxton, she made a very limited number of 30 hour clocks, see Mather, H H Clock and Watch Makers of Nottinghamshire (Nottingham 1979)
A late 18th/early 19thC oak longcase clock, with dentil moulded arched hood, with fluted pillars and ball and spike finials,full length moulded trunk and door, quarter inset columns, plain base and bracket feet, the circular brass dial having Roman hour and Arabic minute numerals, the central field engraved Benjn. Smith ALFRETON, with date crescent, 30 hour movement striking a bell, 214cm H.
A George III mahogany longcase clock, with moulded swan neck and fluted pillared hood with ball and spike finial, with blind fret decoration, over an arched full length trunk door, inset with fluted quarter columns, moulded and shaped base, with bracket feet, the 32cm square arched dial having floral painted spandrels, an oval scene of a seated maiden with cornucopia castle turret and lion, having Arabic hour and minute numerals, seconds ring and date rings, marked Jas. Scott LEITH, eight day movement striking a bell, 228cm H.
An early 19thC oak and mahogany longcase clock, the 28cm W square dial signed W M Green Grantham, with Roman numerals, subsidiary Arabic second hand and date aperture, with painted floral spandrels, in swan neck pedimented hood raised above a shaped short trunk door, on splayed feet, 8-day movement, 221cm H.
Two pairs of 19th century Staffordshire dogs, a pair of Dalmatians on a raised cobalt blue base and a pair of poodles with pups on raised plinth base, height of largest 14cm and a Staffordshire model of a pug on a stylised grassy plinth base and a 19th century figural perfume bottle, young gentleman resting on a tree trunk holding a dog peering over his shoulder, with detachable head as perfume stopper, height approx 8.5cm, blue crossed swords to the base. (6). CONDITION REPORT Losses to the gilt on the dalmatians and spaniels. Perfume bottle is restored. There are no obvious signs of significant damage or repair to the pug model.
