ANIMALS: A rare and unusual Staffordshire Pottery Flatback, modelled as a Goat; together with a Giraffe, mid 19th century, the goat assailed by a green painted snake, 19cm high; the giraffe well modelled feeding beside a hollow tree trunk spill vase 18cm high (2) Condition report The goat has cracks to legs and a possible repair, chip to hoof. Giraffe has firing crack to chest.

ANIMALS: An excellent pair of Staffordshire Pottery Flatback Spill Vases, each modelled as a Cockerel and Hen, mid 19th century, the larger cock bird facing away from his hen and standing before a hollow trunk, 21cm high (2). The cataloguer was unable to source another example of this flatback and to find a pair seems to be very rare. Some loss to paint and glaze. One smaller chicken has what appears to be a firing fault to front breast and back of head. Condition report Generally good condition overall

GREYHOUNDS: A nicely modelled pair of Staffordshire Pottery Spill Vases, modelled as Greyhounds, mid 19th century, each recumbent, before a hollow trunk on blue gilt line bases with curtained aprons, 16cm high (2) One of the figures has some firing faults along spine and the other also has marks to spine and a possible scratch to side.
ANIMALS: A rare Staffordshire Pottery Flatback Spill Vase, modelled as a Standing Giraffe, mid 19th century, standing before a hollow tree trunk, festooned with leaves and flowers, painted in colours, on a gilt lined base, 33cm high There are cracks on the legs and base and a firing crack to the rim of the spill vase.
LIONS: Two Staffordshire Pottery Flatbacks, including an unusual and rare spill vase, modelled as a Tiger Chasing a Stag, mid 19th century, well modelled with the stag running right, the tiger coming from cover behind, with a hollow trunk support, on white gilt lined base, painted in colours, 19cm high; also a zebra, Thomas Parr Factory, facing right, painted in colours, 20cm high (2) The tiger figure was purchased at Christies 4th May, 1982, lot 129 Tail restored, back leg repaired (zebra). SPANIELS: Four assorted Staffordshire Pottery Dogs, including a Spill Vase with Spaniel, recumbent with lightly spotted russet red coat, before a hollow trunk, guarding a bird, 18.5cm; also an early comforter, facing left, 14cm high; another freestanding (damaged feet), 13cm high; and a single right facing dog, 13.5cm high (4).

ANIMALS: Three assorted Staffordshire Figures of Deer, including a pair of a Roe Buck and Doe, both recumbent in front of white 'trees', gilt chains and lined bases, 11cm high; and a finely modelled group of a Red Deer Stag and Hind, the stag standing over his resting hind, before a hollow trunk, 12cm high (3). Cataloguers note. I tend to use the terms buck and doe for male and female deer, this is in part because the names are well understood worldwide. It is also traditional that only red deer have male stags and female hinds, and other species are generally termed as bucks and does. There are exceptions, however Sika deer were not yet in Britain in the 19th century. Condition report Overall Ok
