Clowes, London, a William & Mary longcase clock, amboyna and walnut case, plain moulded cornice, blind fretwork scroll frieze, brass square dial, 30cm by 30cm, with cherubs holding orb spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, flanked by ebonised pilasters, the trunk door with pendulum window and ebonised border, 213cm high, (pendulum, weight, winder and door key)
A good late 18th/ early 19th century mahogany 8-day longcase signed to the painted dial for Halliwell, Warrington. This is likely to be John Halliwell, listed as in business on Bridge Street in Warrington 1790 to 1822. The case has a full-length door to the trunk, flanked by quarter reeded columns, inlaid stringing decoration, the hood with matching reeded columns, swan-necked pediment with inset verre eglomise panels, arched painted dial with maidens representing the four seasons to the corners, rolling moon feature to the arch, matched blued steel hands, with pendulum, weights and key
A good early 19th century mahogany 8-day longcase clock, square painted dial with unusual green background to the gilded spandrel decoration in the corners, matched blued steel hands. The case has a full-length door to the trunk, flanked by square reeded columns, inlaid stringing decoration, the hood with matching square reeded columns, swan-necked pediment, with pendulum, weights and key.

Wear we are going i cant say and the report to Atlanta wear it is a great deal hotter yet, it is so hot hear that to day wene (when) i went in my trunk to get my ten (tin) to get soupe the handle was melted off. i think if it keeps up we will roste a live. Our Curnel is as cross as ever. and i will tell you that your brother ben escaped being taking Prisonner, their was twenty taken out of this regment and wene we came to...we found out that ben was not taken and that morgen [probably refers to Confederate Gen. John Hunt Morgan] killed some to or three and we thought that ben was one of them, so a squad of men was detailed out to the grave yarde to dig up the men but we could not finde ben. and wene we came to Campe again we found ben a live and Kicking in campe. buly for him. and i wish this war was over for i am getting tired of it we have to make so meny harde marches after them if they would stand and fight us like men we could soon settle them but they will run to the other end of the wourld a for we cach them and maby back a gain...' Chinese Export Canton Famille Rose Elephant Candle Holder, Qing dynasty, Circa 1860. The standing elephant with trunk up is painted in Iron red and gilt decorated. On the top a Gu Form vase shaped candleholder with gilt rim. The caparison decorated with famille rose birds, plants and flowers within a turquoise border. The blanket with gilt-ground polychrome floral decoration. One mark on the base. A Victorian black painted tin trunk fitted with lock and retaining original key with engraved brass plaque to the lid "The Most Honourable Marquis of Camden K.G.". Interior is painted cream. Size approx. 57cm x 30cm x 15cm. The original owner was George Charles Pratt, 2nd Marquess Camden, KG (2 May 1799 – 6 August 1866) He was appointed a Knight of the Garter in 1846.
