LARGE CAMPHORWOOD TRUNK - BERNARD LEACH INTEREST a large camphorwood and brass bound trunk, with brass handles and carrying handles to each side. Marked inside, Kwong On, Shanghai St, Hong Kong. 104cms by 51cms, 49.5cms high *This trunk was owned by Laurie Cookes later Leach, who married Bernard in 1944 to become his second wife. Some of the following lots were stored in this trunk for many years.
A collection of early 20th century hand tools with six saws including a W. Tyzack example with stamped marks, length 46cm, over twenty planes of varied size and form including a Gardner of Bristol and iron/steel mounted bullnose examples, the largest length 52cm, and further tools and accessories including a rebate in tin and an iron mounted hammer, the vast majority stamped with owner’s name ‘H. Crewe’ and housed in a vintage tin trunk; Harry Crewe used these tools when constructing houses in Brislington, Bristol, in the early 20th century.Additional InformationHeavy general wear commensurate with age and use throughout; handles with knocks, splits etc in parts, some of the metal with putting, stead of storage corrosion etc, majority will need attention to varying extents.
