Mackenzie Thorpe (b.1956) ``The Couple Forever`` Signed, inscribed, and dated 2013, pastel, 112cm by 80cm Provenance: Purchased directly from the artist *PLEASE NOTE: Droit de Suite Royalty Charges (or ARR) apply to this lot The pastel has not been sealed with a fixative and as such there are areas where it has smudged into the margins (see images before framing). The work has now been framed. There is a scratch to the upper left hand side under the top leaf with the bee (approximately 30cm horizontally) There is also a minor scratch towards the right hand side at the top of the brown tree trunk. There are some speckled areas within the man`s trousers and the leaves on the right hand side (these may be intentional by the artist). Otherwise appears ok. Has not been examined out of the frame.

A George III longcase clock by Jeremiah Standring of Bolton, Lancashire. The brass arch topped dial incorporates a moon roller, silvered chapter ring, subsidiary seconds, date aperture and is inscribed "Time flies pursue it man. For why? Thy days are but a span. The four pillar eight day movement with anchor escapement chimes hourly on a bell. The figured mahognay case with pagoda and swan neck hood is adorned with maple panels, fluted column supports and blind fret carving. The trunk with broad door is flanked by a pair of quarter columns over a stepped base supported on ogee bracket feet. 260cm tall. 233cm to the swan neck. Hood 24cm deep, 51cm wide. Base 26cm deep 54cm wide. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Upper pagoda section a later addition. Case otherwise appears unaltered and in good order. Mechanism working. Sold with weights, pendulum, case key and winding key.

A Walnut Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Joseph Williamson, London, circa 1695, caddied pediment, glazed side panels, moulded trunk door with glass lenticle, 11-inch square brass dial with a silvered Arabic and Roman chapter ring signed, matted dial centre with scroll and ringed engraved decoration, date aperture and seconds, ringed winding holes, five pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, 223cm high Joseph Williamson was an eminent watch and clock maker in the late 17th/early 18th century. Apprenticed in 1686 and became Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1724. He was the watchmaker to the King of Spain and claimed the invention of equation mechanism in a paper to the Royal Society. His watches and clocks are exhibited in several collections around the world today. 09.10.14, Case has been re-veneered in parts and the veneers are polished, mouldings are re-ebonised, hood door with a later side latch, small dents and scuff marks in places, some small chips to veneers, later skirting to plinth, trunk door slightly bowed, dial and movement are clean.
