James Whitehurst, Congleton - A George III mahogany and satinwood strung longcase clock, the broken swan neck pediment and square hood with pillars, enclosing a brass approx 32cm d dial with Roman numerals, inscribed Whitehurst, Congleton, eight day movement, the trunk with arched door, raised on plinth base and short bracket feet, approx 219cm h.
Two Chinese porcelain blanc de chine "Rhinoceros Horn Form" porcelain Libation Cups, the larger decorated in relief with cherry blossom (14cm wide), the smaller of similar design and on pierced "root style" base (9cm diameter) (2) CONDITION REPORT: Large Cup - Firing cracks to prunus trunk and leaves/fault to branch (manufacturing faults). Minor foot rim fritting. Small Cup - Glaze cracks/brown stains to base, otherwise good.

Ogden (probably Halifax) inscribed to the spandrels “Behold this Hand, Observe ye Motions Trip, Mans Precious Hours Away Like These Slip”, with thirty hour movement and single pointer, inscribed “J. Ogden” to the centre, flanked by simple columns with Corinthian capitals and with long trunk door and conforming base. Height 82 ins.

A late 19th century Majolica casket in the form of a dark blue trunk the domed lid with a yellow leather strap and mouse forming the handle, the ends decorated with double bands of brown five dot tiles, the casket with raised corner mounts of cockatoo heads and pale blue wings, the sides with looped branch handles, 9½in. (24cm.) wide, 6½in. (16.5cm.) high.
