A George II green and gilt chinoiserie longcase clock, c.1760, by John Dewe (fl.1733-1764), London, the domed hood with three urn finials, on column pilasters, with glazed arch door, above long trunk with arched door, on plinth base, overall painted and gilt with Oriental landscapes on green ground, the silvered dial with Roman and Arabic chapter ring, date aperture, signed with date to dial, 228 cm high, 47 cm wide, 23 cm deep.

CONDITION REPORT: trunk shows signs of re-polishing, and dents and scratches, plinth has missing veneer, crack to flame veneer, also minor chips, minor pitting to dial

A late Georgian oak longcase clock, with moulded arched and pillared hood, full length trunk door with thumb nail moulding over a plain base on plinth, the 30cm brass square arched dial having rocking tempus fugit figure over a silvered ring marked with his name and that of Wm Batt-Petersfield, silver chapter ring and subsidiary second ring and date aperture, applied figural spandrels, 8 day movement striking a bell, 215cm high.
