An Oak Thirty Hour Single Hand Longcase Clock with Unusual Dial, signed Joseph Butterworth, Fecit, circa 1730, the oak case with flat top pediment, hood with columns to the sides, wavy shaped trunk door with marquetry star medallion, plain rectangular plinth, very fine 11-inch square brass dial with silvered chapter ring signed, the matted dial centre with two arched apertures for date of the month and lunar scale combined with penny moon aperture, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel striking on a bell, 208cm high *Joseph Butterworth of Cawthorne, Barnsley, was probably the son of John Butterworth who was also a clockmaker. Joseph is thought to have succeeded his father around 1720. Only half a dozen longcase clocks are known by Joseph, mostly thirty hour and eight day examples. His dials display very fine engraving and unusual dial layouts. See Loomes (Brian), "Clockmakers of Northern England", page 106

An Impressive Dutch Burr Walnut Inlaid Musical Longcase Clock with Automaton, signed DVD Meer, Amsterdam, circa 1780, the fine burr walnut case with shaped hood and carved floral and scrolled decoration (finials missing), finely pierced front and side frets, canted sides with floral inlay and with Corinthian capitals, the long shaped trunk door with inlay and moulded borders, flanked by canted corners with applied carved mounted capitals, painted landscape background with windmill, the massive three barrel movement with anchor escapement, half hour striking on two bells and four tune selection and playing on fourteen bells with twenty-seven hammers, 274cm high
A Rare Walnut Eight Day Longcase Clock with Unusual Seconds Dial in the Arch, signed Bradley, London, circa 1715, the case with caddy top and fine pierced fretwork, arched trunk door with stringing and moulded edge upon rectangular plinth, 12-inch brass arched dial, dial centre with ringed winding holes and date aperture, cherub and crown spandrels, the arch with two silvered plaques signed "Bradley, London", 5-inch silvered seconds dial with a counter balanced seconds hand and interesting engraving of military equipment, with on the left side the flag of Louis XIV and on the right the flag of the Duc De Aujou, who became King Phillip 5th of Spain in 1700, seven pillar movement with anchor escapement set in the on extended plates and internal countwheel striking on bell, 245cm high *Langley Bradley born 1663 was apprenticed to Joseph Wise in 1687 and was freeman of the "Clockmakers" Company in 1695. He was elected master in 1726 and was a member until 1738. His address was Minute Dyall in Fenchurch Street. As well as making St Paul's Cathedral's clock, he also made ones for St.Giles in Edinburgh and Cripplegate, London. In the Sloan Museum there is a fine calendar watch by Bradley, this was commissioned by William III and presented to Sir Christopher Wren.
A 19th century mahogany longcase clock, the arched hood with fluted Ionic columns above a short trunk door, on a box base, the arched dial with moonphase and floral spandrels, seconds subsidiary dial and calendar aperture, inscribed 'W. Vaughan, Newport', the eight day movement striking on a bell.
