BronzeIndia 14th century  Dimensions: Height 6,5 cm Wide 5,5 cm Depth 3,5 cmWeight: 232 grams Small bronze figurine of Ganesha, remover of obstacles and son of Shiva and Parvati.He is seated on a round lotus base on a square surface, his vehicle the mouse is standing underneath him.His body is shaped like an eight with a big protruding belly, the snake wrapped around it as belt and the sacred thread hanging over his left shoulder.Ganesha is here depicted with four arms, he is holding his attributes, his broken tusk, a noose with which he can bind and free obstacles, a conch shell and a large sweets ball.The deity's trunk is curved to the right signifying the Pingala nadi or energy line standing for masculinity.In opposit to the left-curved trunk, which is the most common found depiction, the right-curved trunk calls for daily and strictlier performed ceremonies to worship and therefore can often be found at temples.The lord is wearing a conical headdress, the details of the face are partly lost due to rub off.

Ganesha's has a pear-shaped body with big belly, a garland is draping from his knees, a belt tied around his belly and the sacred thread running along his torso. Ganesha is wearing anklets, armlets and bracelets and multiple necklaces. He has four hands, two are raised at the back holding a mace and a conch shell, both have a curved shape with decorative pattern, giving him a stylized look. Two hands in the front are holding his borken tusk and a ball of sweet laddu, he is reaching for the sweet with his trunk. Ganesha is wearing a conical, patterned crown, his hair is done up nicely at the back. The statue is hollow.

Reverse with a springing horse above date 1589 with a wildman to the right holding a tree trunk in his right hand and skull, hourglass and spectacles in his left. 1589 was the first year of Heinrich Julius' reign of Brunswock-Wolfenbuttel. *CR Light rubbing and slightly double struck to legend, but generally a very nice example.

A mid-18th century oak longcase clock, the thirty hour movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the 11-inch square brass dial with black Roman hour numerals framing a foliate engraved centre with date aperture and inscribed 'Abrm Weston LEWES', the hood with moulded pediment above a glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with rectangular door, on a plain base and plinth, height 204cm, with pendulum. Note: Abraham Weston is a recorded Sussex clockmaker from a family of clockmakers working in Lewes throughout the 18th century and into the early 19th century.

Note: James Gregory is a recorded Hampshire clockmaker working in Basingstoke circa 1790-1813.

The court regalia of High Sheriff of Warwickshire comprising jacket, breeches, waistcoat, stockings, lace trim, shoes with steel buckles, sword belt and hat. With label for Lesley and Roberts, 16 George Street, Hanover Square, London. and named for Frank Horton. During the First World War, whilst serving wit the 19th Hussars, Horton was awarded the Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 8th October 1918 at Larain, under heavy shell, machine gun and rifle fire he rallied a party of infantry and sent them back to their position, subsequently, when his Squadron Leader became a casualty, he took command, handling it with coolness and enterprise under the most difficult circumstances until he was severely wounded. With copied paperwork and image of the original owner wearing this Court dress. See lot 110 for the sword worn with this lot. In an associated tin trunk. *CR Some wear to linings and other small areas, generally very nice condition.
