A CORNISH GEORGE III DATED OAK LONGCASE CLOCK. the brass break-arched dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, engraved Roger Wearn St Erth 1769 and with foliate scrolls, an eagle on a disc above, having eight day movement, the case crossbanded in fruitwood and inlaid with shell, segmental paterae and chequer stringing, the hood with Greek key and swan neck pediment, the ogee arched door to the trunk flanked by fluted pilasters, on bracket feet, 225cm H. Roger Wearn`s name appears with the date 1752 on a brass arched dial clock. His son, Roger (w1748-d1820) the maker of the present clock, bequeathed his tools to his son and its buried in St Erth churchyard.. ++ The dial original to the movement but not to the slightly later case. The seat board replaced and resting on packed supports, the movement overhauled and cleaned the case of pleasing colour and patina with small repairs.
