An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock with movement by Samuel Thorpe Abberley, the hood with swans neck pediment above the oval glazed door flanked by pillars and enclosing the oval painted face with moon phase to the arch and with two-train eight day striking movement with subsidiary date and seconds dials and with deadbeat escapement, face dimensions 52 cm x 41 cm, and with arched trunk door flanked by ring turned columns, the base with canted angles and bracket feet. Height 238 cm (see illustration).
An oak longcase clock, with carved case inscribed "Use Time Wisely" and with silvered brass dial and two-train striking movement and with foliate and scroll carved case. CONDITION REPORT: The clock hood is in generally god condition with no significant issues. There is a small section of mahogany crossbanding missing to the left hand bottom corner of the glazed door. The silvered brass dial is dirty and the silvering worn. The movement although dirty is ticking and striking as it should. The seatboard is not original. The trunk door is not warped. It also has a small veneer loss to the bottom left hand corner. We have the weights and pendulum. The plinth to the base is detached. We are missing the plain section of left hand return moulding.
A George III oak longcase clock, with moulded cornice above a glazed door enclosing the silvered brass dial with date aperture and Roman numerals by Hugh Lough of Penrith and with thirty hour movement, with long trunk door, quarter column corners and conforming base. Height 207 cm (see illustration).
A late 18th century longcase clock, with automaton movement by Jan B. Bryhoff, Amsterdam, walnut and marquetry case, with silvered chapter ring and brass dial with subsidiary seconds and moon phases and with three dimensional theatre scene, including five rocking ships, mermaid and sea serpent. Dial width 32 cm, case height 252 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is generally in extremely good condition. The case is in extremely good order with no significant veneer issues. There are no problems with the hood. The trunk door is not warped. The sides are in good condition with no issues. The bombe base has a stress mark across the front panel which should be clearly evident. The veneer is slightly rough to the touch across this section. There is a similar stress fracture to the right hand panel of the base which is similarly a little rough to the touch. The left hand side panel is in good order with no stress fractures. The feet are original and in good condition. The movement is ticking away and the rocking ships operate with the pendulum and seem to be working as they should. We have not had the clock going long enough to see if the moon phase operates correctly but would be surprised if it didn't. The case backboards are original.
A George III oak longcase clock by W. Shephard of Millom, with thirty hour movement and date aperture, the oak case raised on bracket feet. Height 215 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cornice and hood are in generally good original condition with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. The door is not warped. There are traces of very old long gone woodworm which in our opinion is not significant. The seatboard is original and in our opinion the clock is not a marriage. The movement is very dirty but does strike when advanced to the hour. The feather on the pendulum is the wrong length. With the pendulum removed and weight applied to the movement the clock does appear to tick. The movement is however extremely dirty. The trunk door is not warped but does have a crack running down the centre join which should be visible from our image. The moulding beneath the trunk door is detached on the left hand side but we have the piece. The front edge of the waist moulding has some losses and damage. The sides of the base appear to be original. The front board is probably original but does have this strange diamond shape pendant to the front which is probably a later addition. The bracket feet are old but probably later replacements.
A George III Scottish oak longcase clock by Pettygrew of Edinburgh, with swans neck pediment, arched silvered brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture and two-train striking movement. Height 215 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: We have both weights and pendulum. The clock appears to be ticking as it should. It also appears to be striking. The dial is in generally good condition with only minor tarnishing to the silvering. The movement is a little dirty but as stated appears to be operating. The case and movement are not a marriage. The hood is in generally good condition with only minor stress fractures to the timber. All glass is present and correct. The brasswork is dirty and tarnished. The trunk door is not warped and we have the lock and key. The sides of the case are in good condition as is the base. The base moulding around the bottom of the case may be later. The left hand front foot bracket is missing. The backboards are original.
A George III oak longcase clock, with swans neck pediment above the arched painted dial with eight day striking movement, flanked by fluted columns and with long trunk door and raised on bracket feet. Height 210 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have a pendulum but no weights. The dial is in need of restoration. There are no significant paint losses however the dial is dirty and allover crazed and much of the writing and numerals are rubbed. The minute hand is half missing. The movement is filthy but appears to be complete. The seatboard is original and we do not think that the piece is a marriage. The case itself is extremely dry and has a matt finish as if all the original polish has perished. It may simply have been stripped. The hood is in generally good condition with no major issues other than minor veneer losses, scratches and scuffs. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the case are in good condition as is the base generally. There is a stress crack down the centre of the base itself between the joins. The plinth is likely to be a later replacement and the clock will probably have had bracket feet. The backboards are original.
A Regency mahogany longcase clock, David Greig, Perth, with arched hood, circular dial and two-train striking movement, with subsidiary date and seconds dials, with arched trunk door and quarter round corners, the base raised on tall bracket feet. Height 220 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock hood is in generally very good condition with no issues. The dial is in good order. The subsidiary seconds hand is missing. We have not had the clock going however if weight is applied to both suspensions the clock does tick and strike. The seatboard is original. It is however warped and has a piece of packing on the left hand side. In our opinion the clock is not a marriage. We currently do not have the weights and pendulum however the vendor is bringing them to the saleroom this week. The trunk door is in good condition and not warped. It is a good colour as is the case in general. There are no issues with the trunk, sides or feet which are all in good order with only minor surface scuffs and scratches as one might expect. The colour of the case is generally very good. We do not have a key for either door.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by James Greig of Perth, with swans neck pediment above the arched dial and two-train striking movement, with subsidiary date and seconds dials, with long trunk door flanked by quarter column corners, the base raised on bracket feet. Height including finial 215 cm.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany granddaughter clock, with arched hood and silvered brass dial bearing plaque "David Summerfield, Newcastle-on-Tyne", with two-train spring driven movement, inlaid trunk and raised on a plinth base. Height 135 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock movement is a little dirty and appears to be fully wound. The clock does tick for a few seconds when the balance wheel is rotated. In our opinion the movement could do with an overhaul as it is probably very dry. The movement does chime on the half hour and on the full when advanced by hand. The case is in generally good order with no significant losses. There are several old stress cracks to the veneers on the top of the hood which are in our opinion not significant. The remainder of the case is in very good order. The only area where there is any damage is to the left hand bottom corner of the plinth. The silvered brass dial is very dirty as you can probably see from our images. The strike/silent mechanism appears to operate.

The other panel has a few small areas where the same light brown stitching has some losses (eg to the trunk on the bottom tree, and to the tree trunk above the top bridge).
