A FINE SOUTH INDIAN GAUNTLET SWORD (PATA) WITH CARVED WOODEN HILT, 17TH/EARLY 18TH CENTURY, PROBABLY MYSORE, KARNATAKA with straight double-edged blade of flattened-diamond section, threaded tang retained by a nut inside the hilt, darkwood, probably ‘tendu’, hilt carved in the round as an elephant’s head with its trunk wrapped around the ferrule, a pair of fluted bosses over the hand with a ‘chain-of-life’ ahead of a lotus flower behind, a further lotus lower and a pronounced monster head on the top of the fluted brim, with early turned hardwood grip bar (upper bar missing) on the inside, 82.0 cm blade Roy Elvis Catalogue Number C81. A GEORGE III MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCKThe dial signed Richard Marshall, LondonThe hood with ogee pediment and three brass finials, above arched glazed dial door and glazed sides, with fluted tapering uprights, the trunk inset with an arched panel door, flanked by fluted stopped quarter-columns, on panelled base and stepped plinth, the arched 12in brass dial, with strike/silent to the arch above silvered chapter enclosing a matted centre with inset silvered seconds dial and signature panel above the VI, the twin train rack striking movement with anchor escapement and strike on bell, dial/movement and case possibly associated237cm highCONDITION REPORTThe case has been restored at some point and is in good condition.  The trunk door is warped.  The gap on closing has been thoughtfully filled by a small fillet to the back of the arch on the door at the top and again on the bottom, so when closed no gap is visible.  Overall some marks, chips and knocks commensurate with age.  The two dolphin spandrels may have been changed as there is a vacant hole to each side just below the current holding screw.  There are also a number of other holes visible to the back of the dial. The movement does appear original to the dial.  However, the dial and movement may be associated with the case.With two lead weights, a steel and brass pendulum, one case key and a crank key.

We can confirm this is an eight day movement.

A GEORGE III MAHOGANY NAVAL AUTOMATA LONGCASE CLOCKBy Robert Craike, LondonThe hood with an arched pediment, surmounted by three brass urn finials above a pierced gilt panel, above an arched glazed dial door flanked by stopped fluted pillars and a glazed panel to each side, the trunk inset with an arched panel door, above the panelled base with stepped plinth and wavy apron; the 12in arched brass dial, with automata in the arch of five British vessels moving on the sea, the background finely painted and believed to be Fort George, New York, above pierced spandrels and silvered chapter ring, enclosing a polished central panel with narrow, ring seconds subsidiary and arched signature panel, with strike/silent lever to the III o’clock, the twin track movement with rack strike on a bell and anchor escapement246cm highCONDITION REPORTWith heavy brass pendulum bob and flat brass rod pendulum, two brass-cased weights and a crank winding key.  The case is in good condition.  It has been repolished at some point fairly recently.  Some marks and knocks commensurate with age.  The movement appears to be in good condition and well maintained.  It is a bit oily and might benefit from a clean.  The automata mechanism appears to be working.  The brass arch around the diorama is possibly replaced:  it has a slightly different colour to the brass dial plate and uneven joints where new meets old.  The decoration is likely to have been refreshed.  The vessels are maybe replaced?  The three sailing vessels each have intact rigging lines. With the finials removed the clock is 231cm tall to the centre of the plinth top.

A GILT METAL-MOUNTED MAHOGANY DROP-DIAL WALL CLOCKIn the George III style, inscribed Martins Bank, London, circa 1900The circular case with swan-neck pediment centred by an eagle and ball finial, above a convex glazed cast-brass bezel, and moulded cirrcular dial frame, above a protruding trunk with pierced gilt metal frieze and acanthus-cast finial and berried terminal; the 12in silvered dial inscribed Martins Bank London, with Roman chapters and pierced steel hands, the chain fusée movement with A-shaped plates and anchor escapement70cm high overallMartins Bank was a London private bank which could trace its origins back to Thomas Gresham.  In 1918 it was acquired by the Bank of Liverpool and was known as Bank of Liverpool and Martins.  It was absorbed by Barclays Bank in 1969.CONDITION REPORTWith its pendulum.  Overall in good condition.  The metal work is tarnished.  The hands would benefit from re-blueing.  The bezel has had a pin-hole drilled on the left side as some sort of fixing point and the corresponding point on the wood bezel has a hole which could now be filled.  There is an adequate pin and catch lock on the reverse of the wood surround to lock the bezel.  The movement would benefit from a clean.

A Viennese gilt-brass mounted enamel octofoil-shaped dish, in the manner of Hermann Ratzersdorfer, late 19th century, the enamel panels painted with Greek mythological vignettes, the frame with C-scrolls and masks, 32 x 28.5cm Condition Report: This dish is in generally good overall condition. The enamel panels - the panel at 10/11 o'clock with a tiny impact knock by the tree trunk.  The border panel at the top with two hairline fractures running across the mountain to the background and into the sky.  The panel at 1/2 o'clock has a diagonal hairline fracture in the top left corner.  The tomb in the lower border panel has a small hairline crack.  The are various minor surface scratches in areas consistent with age. The gilded mounts are worn with some tarnishing to the recesses of the masks.   The reverse has some worn patches to the central panel where the decoration has rubbed completely away.
