A George III mahogany longcase clock, the arched moulded cornice with central vacant cartouche, glazed door flanked by fluted pilasters to a shaped trunk door flanked by three quarter pilaster columns to a fielded panelled base on ogee bracket feet, the arched dial with silvered chapter ring, Arabic and Roman numerals, engraved matted centre with secondary dial to the arch and moon phase inscribed "James Foster, Sutton" to an eight day striking movement on a bell, 242 cm high (case very damaged and with losses throughout - for restoration) CONDITION REPORTS Case very damaged throughout and with losses - for restoration. Clock is broken into numerous pieces and currently some parts of it are propped up in order to give an idea of its appearance. There are some parts of the clock case and hood missing. Wear, scuffs, knocks and chips, damage and losses. Door with cracks and losses. Large areas of moulding missing, and various sections missing. Splits and breaks. Bracket foot base with chips and losses and, as with the rest of the clock, it is broken, cracked and separated at joins. Cracks and various age cracks throughout including to pilasters. Some old worm holes. Some chips and losses and sections missing. Some dirt and mould to surfaces. Mould to interior., and lock appears to be missing. Some losses to mouldings. Moon face with quite a lot of scuffs, scratches and losses to decoration. Dial generally with quite heavy wear, scuffs, scratches and tarnish. Pendulum with rusting and tarnish and fitments loose. Weights appear to have repairs / . additional areas of metal added. No etched glass panels. Arched top (not swan neck pediment) and one side of top (arched) section appears to be missing. The two tall fluted pilasters which would fit either side of the door are present, but some sections (eg capitals) appear to be missing. Please see photos. There is no provenance available with this lot.
