Thomas Brown of Chester; a late George III oak and mahogany cased 8-day longcase clock, with painted one-piece 31 cm dial., chiming the hours on a single bell, the trunk door with inlaid cocquillage. supported by shaped bracket feet. 56 cm wide x 29 cm deep x 217 cm overall height.Thomas Brown is recorded as working in Chester between 1766 and 1784 then continuing in Stockport until 1801, please see page 111 of Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, (CTFCE), Loomes, Brian.
John Liddell of Morpeth, a George III mahogany tavern wall clock with, a piece painted Roman dial, the four pillar eight-day movement chiming the hours on a single bell the trunk with lancet arched door. 48 cm wide x 28 cm deep x 180 cm in height.John Liddell is recorded as working in Morpeth (Northumberland) between 1758-1820, see page 484, Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World (CTCE) Loomes, Brian. Some scuffs and wear to the case and hood throughout, commensurate with age. No major structural issues present. Not tested as working.
Edward Bridgman, Covent Garden, Circa 169012-inch dial applied with cherub spandrels, signed Edward Bridgman Covent Garden, matted center with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with seconds dial and calendar aperture, pierced blue steel hands, the movement with ring-turned and knopped latched pillars, inside count wheel striking on a bell, the overhanging cornice supported on ebonized spirally twisted columns to the front and pilasters to the rear, the trunk inset with a ebonized lenticle and with shaped panels of a bird, flower and vase marquetry on an ebony ground and with an oyster-cut surround, similarly veneered plinth, the sides crossbanded and veneered with further oyster-cut wood.Height 76 3/4 inches 194.9 cm), width 17 1/2 inches (44.4 cm), depth 8 inches (20.2 cm) Please note that Doyle does not guarantee the condition of clocks, overall with lifting, losses and replacements to veneers, age cracks, lacking glass.
