Mancano la zampa posteriore destra (sostituita da un perno in ottone), la punta delle orecchie e della proboscide, le due figure dalla vita in su. La dea regge un bastone in mano, la sua complessa acconciatura è coronata da una fenice che porta un gioiello nel becco. La fanciulla, con un ramo di fiori in mano, si appoggia dolcemente alle sue cosce. Small black inclusion on the chest, and other, more numerous near the bottom of the backside. The figures are surrounded by flowers. The goddess holds a rod in her hand and her intricate hairstyle is topped by a phoenix carrying a jewel in its beak. A Louis Vuitton trunk, metal bound with handles to the side, 59cm wide/Provenance: Formerly the property of Mary E Chamberlain, nee Endicott daughter of William Endicott US Secretary of War and wife of Joseph Chamberlain (British Politician and Statesman), this trunk travelled regularly with her between the USA and England Condition Report: This trunk has been in a barn for a considerable time, the straps and metal mounts are in poor condition, the front covering cracked and patched. Little of the external pattern remains except at the sides.

A rectangular flat-section lead-alloy pendant with loop and openwork border, central plaque with high-relief figures of Adam and Eve flanking a tree with serpent coiled around the trunk. 5.99 grams, 30mm (1 1/4"). Fine condition, loop absent. From an important London collection, acquired in the 1970s.
