Milsome, Newbury', with Arabic outer minute track and subsidiary seconds and date dials, strike/silent dial to the arch, the trunk with arched panelled door, on a panelled base with bracket feet, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement, striking on a bell, 83in. A mahogany and marquetry miniature longcase clock with Drocourt movement, late 19th century, the gong strike Drocourt signed movement also marked 'W.T. & Co'. (for William Thornhill & Co.), no. 21173, the mahogany case with stepped ogee top with three ball finials, over a square glazed door flanked by turned columns, the trunk door and base with classical urn and floral marquetry inlay, on serpentine plinth base, the square brass dial with silvered Roman chapter ring and the retailer's plaque for 'Thornhill & Co. London', 21in. (53.25cm.) high.
Six carved ivory walking cane handles, comprising an eagle head with glass eyes, c.1890; a standing elephant, c.1900; an elephant head with trunk outstretched, c.1910; an owl standing on a knarled stump with a snake in its claws, c.1890; a Japanese handle with a macaque & bear climbing on a rock, each with a toad, c.1880; and a clenched fish holding a baton on a turned stem. A mid 19th century mahogany longcase clock by John Cameron, Kilmarnock (1836-9). The straight stepped canopy with semi-circular door, painted dial with rural scenes depicting 'Spring', 'Summer', 'Harvest', 'Winter' and the 'Pass of Killiecrankie'. The dial is also painted with Roman numerals and has two subsidiary dials with Arabic numerals (for seconds and days of the month). Trunk with long door on square box base. A George III oak and mahogany longcase clock, the break arch dial painted with a rural landscape and fruit and flowers, dial bearing Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, eight day two train movement with bell strike, the case with swan neck pediment and turned columns, over a line inlaid and cross banded trunk door, raised on a plinth base.
BEIBITZ, J. H - Theology and Modern Science : Uncorrected proof copy (unpublished) - with copies of his other books and pamphlets, photographs, manuscripts, ephemera, etc, all contained in a tin trunk with his initials.* The Rev J.H. Beibitz, MA served as vice-principal of the Theological College of the Diocese of Lichfield. He is probably best known for his paper on Gloria Crucis, Glory of the Cross.
