A 19th century oak and iron bound trunk, 80 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Heavy wear and scuffs, marks and stains, and various splits. Some separating at joins. Moulding missing to right side. Rust and tarnish to metalwork. Padlock is locked and there is no key. Interior therefore not inspected.

A Spanish leather bound and studded trunk, late 18th century, formerly the property of Major General The Honourable Sir Cavendish Ponsonby GCMB, KCB, KCH 1783-1837. This trunk was reported to have been acquired by Frederick Ponsonby when travelling during the Peninsula Campaign. Width 47 ins, height 25 ins, depth 20 ins (see illustration).

A George III mahogany longcase clock by George Brown of London, three-train striking on either four or eight tubular gongs, with 12 inch arched brass dial “Tempus Fugit” to arch and silent and chime mechanism, the hood with brass finials, fretwork pediment and brass capped capitals, with long arched trunk door flanked by canted angles with brass decoration and with conforming base. An 18th century Guernsey eight day longcase clock by Nicolas Blondel the twin train bell strike movement with four turned and ring engraved pillars, anchor escapement, the backplate inscribed `OCTOBRE: 16eme No 38 L`AN: 1749`, further hand scratched inscription below detailing maintenance work carried out, the brass Roman dial with outer arabic minutes, matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, black painted pierced steel hands, the chapter ring signed `N: Blondel Guernesey` at six, gilt metal four seasons spandrels, in a country made beech and elm case, the hood with flared ogee cornice over a square glazed door with turned pilasters and rectangular side glasses, on a plain trunk and plinth base, 79in. (201cm.) high.
** A NEAR OR MIDDLE EASTERN MAIL SHIRT, 18TH/19TH CENTURY with a trunk formed of alternating rows of welded and riveted rings, each of half-round-section wire, those at the upper edge of its centrally-divided neck-opening of larger size than the rest and those at the lower edge of its later extended and centrally-divided skirt of lighter gauge than the rest and entirely riveted, as are the small rings of round-section-wire forming its later-added elbow-length sleeves, and fitted at the rear edge of the skirt with a brass tag marked G over 1 (the whole showing some minor repairs, losses and holing) The shirt appears to have enjoyed a long working life.
JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD BRONZE KORO OF CANTED OBLONG SHAPE, with elephant trunk handles, the cover with Shi-Shi finial, standing on four elephant trunk feet, the body well case with panels of stylised ho-ho birds and dragons, the cover with bats, 6 1/2" (16.5cm) high (damage to one handle, detached piece inside koro)
