mark of Elkington & Co.,1858, in the Rococo revival style, crested, the centrepiece with abundant scroll and acanthus leaf decoration, three split branches each terminating in a threaded bolt to attach either a small, circular pierced basket, (one basket lacking) or a candle sconce, the centre section with a larger circular wire framed basket with applied trailing vine border, centre column of twisted vine with a smaller curling vine supporting two playful putti, raised on an elaborate scrolled triform base, 40cm across the branches, 70cm high; the pair of candelabra to match, each with three branches each terminating in a single sconce and a central column holding the fourth sconce topped with a friction fitting and detachable foliate finial, 27cm across the branches, 65cm high including the finial, presented in the original wooden and metal strapped travelling trunk with two fitted green baize lined and named lift out compartments (4)Provenance:Wood Hall, Hilgay, NorfolkAll metalware would greatly benefit from professional cleaning and polishing.Centrepiece - Overall in good condition for its age with no obvious sign of damage or repair. One small basket lacking. A fair amount of wax residue all over. The centre column topped with the fourth light is loose at the junction of the bottom threaded section and the start of the twisted vine section, resulting in the top column leaning and wobbling a little. A fair amount of wax residue all over. Stands firm on a flat surface with no wobble.Trunk -Outer - in reasonable condition for its age. Woodwork dirty and metalware rusty. Locking catch in need of some adjustment.Interior - lining very worn in places, ripped and damaged in places. Some identifying labels for the recessed compartments are missing. Some minor damage and losses to the compartment dividers.
