A reinforced large canvas suitcase with leather straps and corners, with remnants of travel stickers including Cunard White Star, width 91cm, and a smaller maroon leather suitcase bearing Finnigans stamp to interior and initialled 'P.Z. DE F.', width 55.5cm, a metal trunk stencilled 'F Bolter', with labels for the Federal Department of Commerce Industries Lagos', width 65cm, and a small tin trunk with faint stencil 'Bolter 19', width 39.5cm (4) .

An oak and walnut longcase clock containing late 18th Century movement by Hayler of Chatham, the 12ins arched silvered dial with Roman numerals and with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar dial to centre and with strike/silent dial to arch, to the eight day two train five pillar movement striking on a bell, contained in modern oak case, swept caddy top with fretted centre panel, turned, fluted and brass stopped pillars, the arched trunk door veneered in figured walnut and flanked by quartered, fluted and brass stopped quarter columns and the base with raised astragal mouldings, inset with figured walnut veneer panel and moulded double plinth base, 91ins high (glass to door cracked - side moulding off but present) Note: William Hayler recorded working Chatham circa 1765-1851. In view of long working dates possibly two men of the same name, maybe father and son.
A mid-19th Century figured mahogany longcase clock by Lawrence of Southampton, the 13.25ins diameter silvered dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and with subsidiary seconds dial, to the eight day two train movement, shaped top brass plates and striking on a bell, contained in figured mahogany case of architectural design, the hood with angled pediment and astragal mouldings, the arched trunk door with canted corners and the base with raised astragal mouldings, on block feet, 79ins high Note: "The Directory of Hampshire Clockmakers" by Martin Norgate records two Lawrence's in Southampton - Francis Lawrence at 13 High Street in 1851 and James Lawrence in Union Terrace, Southampton in 1844.
A Private Collection of Oriental Ivories A Japanese carved boxwood and ivory figure of a man seated on a tree trunk, 8.625ins (22cm) high (Meiji Period - seal missing to base - items from hands missing - some damage) Note: Please be aware that according to CITES Regulations, it will be necessary to acquire an export license to export this lot outside the EU. It will not be possible to export this lot to the USA.Condition:Some glue residue around neck, wrists and his left leg. Chipping to boxwood collar around neck. Crack in ivory on his right hand and chip to the boxwood sleeve of the same right arm. Small crack to his right trouser leg. Two cracks and repaired chip to his left trouser leg. His left ivory foot is loose in the leg. Crack running down the left side of his back - a natural flaw with a bit of movement. Small chip to edge of robe at the bottom of his back. Tree trunk base appears to be in overall good condition. Rectangular cavity on the underside where the seal is now missing.
An Indian carved ivory elephant with howdah, with three seated figures and four standing figures, on rectangular base with bun feet, 5.5ins (14cm) x 3ins (7.6cm) x 5.75ins (14.8cm) high, one other similar elephant with howdah, 4.75ins (12cm) x 2.75ins (7cm) x 5ins (12.7cm) high (both late 19th Century - with detached or missing figures and general damage), a Japanese carved ivory elephant balancing on a ball and with a monkey on his trunk, on oval base, 8.5ins (21.2cm) high, and a group of three ivory figures and two cattle, on oval ebonised base, 8.25ins (21cm) wide (later two late 19th Century - with extensive damage) Note: Please be aware that according to CITES Regulations, it will be necessary to acquire an export license to export this lot outside the EU.
