A QUEEN ANNE WALNUT LONGCASE CLOCK BY SAMUEL WATSON LONDON the brass month going movement with six turned and finned pillars, with an anchor escapement striking on a bell, with an outside countwheel, the twelve inch brass dial with a silvered chapter ring, with Roman and Arabic numerals, the matted centre with a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, signed 'Sam Watson London', with gilt boys and crown spandrels, the hood with a blind fret carved frieze, above a trunk door with book matched burr veneers 216.6cm high Provenance From a Private Cornish Country Estate. Catalogue Note See Britten's 'Old Clocks & Watches and their Makers': Samuel Watson, Coventry and London, horologist, is listed as active between 1649-1710, 'inventor curious piece of clockwork; a clock sold to Charles II, shows the rising and setting of the sun and many other motions.' He is credited with inventing the five-minute repeater.
A mid 19th century mahogany trunk dial wall clock by Joyce of Whitchurch, the 34cm painted dial applied with Roman numerals and the makers name, enclosing the single train movement, the rectangular case with carved scroll ears above the flame mahogany arched door, 132cm high, pendulum and block weight Provenance; Llangedwyn HallCondition reportLoss of beading around the base of the clock, along with veneer chips and splits (see further images), some light water stains to the case which would benefit from a clean and polish, movement appears not to have had any attention for some time.
A well-engineered 1 ½ inch scale model of a 'Royal Chester' Allchin agricultural traction engine, with single cylinder, being a two-speed general purpose engine. The engine has a copper boiler with fittings including water gauge, pressure gauge, safety valve, blower, clack and blowdown valves. Engine details include cylinder approximately 1 inch bore by 1 ½ inch stroke, drain cocks with operating lever, ratchet mechanical lubricator, trunk type crosshead guide, Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, two road speeds and spoked flywheel. Pickering type governor, chassis details include spoked and straked wheels, worm and roller chain steering, spud pan, damper, cable drum, fairleads, water lifter, handbrake to second shaft, wooden footboard and tool box. The model is finished in red and black paintwork with polished steel brightwork. The model is as exhibited in full size at The Royal Chester Agricultural Show in 1925. A small well engineered model of a horizontal live steam mill engine, having single cylinder lagged in wood with spoked flywheel, disc crank and brass trunk guide set on sole plate with wooden plinth. A period model of a live steam mill engine, mounted on a simulated block-work base with condensing tanks mounted below the engine. The engine has a single cylinder lagged in wood with an eccentric driven steam valve mounted to the side of the single cylinder and driven by an eccentric mounted on the open crank. The engine with trunk guide, connecting rod, spoked flywheel and a water pump operated by a second eccentric mounted on the crank with associated pipework. Glazed case 57cm by 30cm. Beatles LP, Yesterday and Today LP - Third state 'Butcher' Sleeve with Paste-over 'Trunk' Cover removed to reveal the original - USA Stereo Release 1966 - Capitol - ST-2553. Colour band Labels with Original Capitol Inner Sleeve. The Removal was performed by The Rock and Roll Shop in the USA (one of the most respected 'Butcher Sleeve' restorers around) and comes with their certificate dated Jan 24 2006. Butcher Sleeve restored and Excellent, Trunk Sleeve considerably creased but intact with a couple of tears, Vinyl and Inner Excellent
A George III lacquered longcase clock, with an arched brass dial, with a silvered chapter ring with subsidiary seconds and calendar aperture, inscribed William Ray, Sudbury, with a eight-day movement and striking the hours on a bell, with a ball mounted hood, chinoiserie decorated trunk and door, with weights and pendulum, dial 11.5in., 243cm highCondition report: Case worn, and ball finials damaged. Dial and movement appears to have been cleaned.It appears to have originally been black, rather than a deep red or green. The case is structurally in a good order. There are losses/flaking sections to the lacquer. The seat board and case do not show obvious signs of adjustment, such as additional timbers, which suggests they may be original.
