A Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Nathaniel Brown, Manchester, circa 1780, swan neck pediment, trunk door flanked by wood stop fluted pilasters, 13-inch arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, moonphase aperture signed on a silvered plaque, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 226cm high see illustration 10.10.17, Case has been cleaned, hood with small chips in parts, front panels have been re-painted, left hand side of the trunk with one crack, plinth sides with cracks, right hand side of the plinth with a small piece of wood replaced, later feet, dial is discoloured and needs cleaning, movement is complete, movement is dirty and needs cleaning, with pendulum and two weights.
A Good Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, case possibly by Gillows, signed Finney, Liverpool, circa 1780, swan neck pediment with three brass ball finials, gilt scroll decorated eglomise glass panels, hood with four fluted columns, well figured trunk door with book mark flame veneers, flanked by inset fluted pilasters, later ogee feet, 13-inch arched brass dial with a silvered chapter ring with inner date ring, finely matted centre with seconds dial and signed on a silvered plaque, moonphase in the arch and inscribed above on a silvered plaque ''The Man is Yet Unborn, Who duly Weighs an hour'', four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 257cm high see illustration 16.10.17, Hood with one chip to one glass panel and one small piece of panel missing from the top corner, trunk is very slightly faded, trunk right hand side with small scratches and one small chip to the back edge, dial and movement are clean, with pendulum and two weights.
A Mahogany Three Month Duration Longcase Regulator, signed Taffinder, Rotherham, Exhibition 1851, Class 10 No.54, arched pediment, glazed trunk door depicting carved scroll decoration beneath the dial, plain rectangular plinth raised upon bracket shaped feet, 12-inch silvered dial, outer minute track with a corresponding centre minute hand, two dials for hours and seconds, large A-framed five pillar movement, deadbeat escapement with polished steel pallets, 196cm high see illustration By repute this clock was presented at The Crystal Palace Exhibition in 1851.10.10.17, Top of the pediment with cracks and veneer slightly lifting, small chips in parts and later added small pieces of wood, right hand side door aperture edges with signs of repair, later side glazed door panels, front of the plinth with one split, dial with small scratches, movement is complete, with pendulum and one weight.

See Banfield (Edwin) Barometer Makers and Retailers 1660-1900, pg.227.06.10.17, Case side with some fine cracks, adjustment knob with small chips, dial with one securing screw missing to the top right hand side, mercury tube is complete with visible mercury present.
A Good Mahogany Bowfront Stick Barometer, signed Dollond, London, circa 1840, concealed mercury tube with a single vernier silvered dial signed, well figured trunk with adjustment knob, thermometer box, urn shaped cistern cover, 98cm high see illustration The Dollond family of scientific instrument makers was founded by Peter Dollond in 1750 and continued until its acquisition by Aitchison in 1913. This barometer would have been made by George Dollond (b.1774-d1856), working at 59 St Paul's Churchyard London (1804-56) who continued the business after the death of his uncle, Peter, in 1820. George was one of sixteen instrument-makers who exhibited at the Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace in 1851. He was instrument-maker to both William IV and Queen Victoria.
