A Victorian mahogany drumhead longcase clock signed D Douglas Glasgow, the glazed door enclosing cream enamel dial with Roman numerals, minute track and two subsidiary dials, with pendulum and two lead weights, 210cm high CONDITION REPORT: Lot 449 - we do not test clocks are in working order, pendulum and weight are present, chip to wood on hood, door opens freely on hood, minor fading to dial, crack to lower trunk, and small pieces of veneer missing to lower trunk
Oak and mahogany longcased clock, named R Jones Denbigh, square brass dial, silvered Roman chapter ring, engraved field, subsidiary seconds, and date aperture on an eight day movement with anchor escapement striking the hour on a top bell, in a flat topped hood with fluted columns, on a quartered column trunk and set out plinth, height 200cm (two weights, pendulum, winding key). *See clocks and watches proviso.
Medals, Elizabeth II British Empire Medal, named to Edwin Christopher Pearce, with ribbon and pin, Royal Mint box en suite; WW2 group - Burma Star (lacking ribbon), France and Germany Star, Defence Medal and War Medal; miniature, Military Medal; various correspondence addressed to Mr. Pearce from West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council, HM's Department of the Environment, HM's Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire [Lord Normanby], PPS at Downing Street, etc., on the occasion of the award in the New Year's Honour List 1975/76, etc., newspaper clipping of Mr E.C. Pearce, of [...] Boroughbridge, was presented with the British Empire Medal by the Lord Lieutenant, Lord Normanby, at Mulgrave Castle, Lythe, Whitby. Mr. Pearce, following services in the forces, joined the West Riding County Council, and gave valuable service in training staff before becoming an inspector of works - in which capacity he was responsible for much of the trunk and motorway network in the West Riding. He retired in 1975.
Early 20th century camphor wood uniform trunk, fitted lift up box, interior drawers and well fitted cabinet interior to the lid. Size 103cms wide, 53cms deep, 58cms high Generally in quite good condition - there is a split to the top approx 1.5" long between the two brass pieces, brass strapping is all there and look ok, generally needs a good polish with some surface scratching and wear.
A late 18thC mahogany eight day longcase clock, with (later) arched dial, centred by a ship with silver chapter ring, with Roman numeric and Arabic numerals, with further stencilling and raised spandrels, above an arched trunk door flanked by quarter columns, on bracket feet, with a caddy style hood, 229cm high.
A Bristol delftware plate mid 18th century, painted predominantly in manganese with a Chinese lady seated on a large bamboo trunk with a curved branch above her head, holding a fan in her right hand, the rim with bamboo vignettes reserved on a hatched diaper ground, all highlighted in blue, green and yellow, 23cm.
