GOYARD A BLACK COATED CANVAS TRUNK, 20TH CENTURY With brass and leather trim, a flip lock clasp, applied with partial labels, opening to a paisley interior with a lift out tray 45 x 41 x 31cm Condition Report: The trunk has signs of use. There are marks and small tears to the side of the case, the base has a large tear, and one corner, back right hand side, has been broken away, some signs of previous damp particularly to the broken corner, there is a removeable inner tray, some signs of damp damage to the corner corelating to the back corner damage. A KHMER-STYLE BRONZE FIGURE OF GANESHAThailand or Cambodia, c. 17th century or later. Cast as Ganesha seated in dhyanasana, holding his broken tusk in his right hand and a bowl of sweets in his left, dressed in a short sampot and adorned in beaded jewelry, the face with almond shaped eyes, the trunk curled upwards, and the head surmounted by a foliate tiara and a conical headdress. Condition: Good condition with minor wear, nicks, scratches, and casting flaws. Fine patina with malachite encrustations.Provenance: German private collection.Scientific Analysis Report: An Expert Report from Antiques Analytics - Institute of Scientific Authenticity Testing, test report number AA 23-04043, dated 19 May 2023, written and signed by Dr. R. A SMALL PYU AGATE ´ELEPHANT´ TALISMAN, 200-1000 ADPyu city states (200-1000 AD). Carved as an elephant standing foursquare, with a short and lowered trunk and pierced through the mouth and tail allowing for suspension as a pendant. The holes show ancient toolmarks and are handmade and irregular. The opaque stone of a brown tone with orange steaks. Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear and natural imperfections to the stone.Provenance: Estate of Paolo Bertuzzi (1943-2022) was an engineer and fashion stylist from Bologna, Italy. Born Paolo Bertuzzi as the son of Enrichetta Bertuzzi, the founder of Hettabretz, one of the most important leather merchants in Italy which crafted womenswear for royals and celebrities including The Rothschild family, Audrey Hepburn, and Elizabeth Taylor. Paolo Bertuzzi later took over his mother's business and created exclusive pieces, some of which were exhibited in the Costume Institute at Metropolitan Museum of New York. He was also an avid collector of antiques for more than 60 years. His collection includes archaic and contemporary art, focusing mainly on Asian ancient pieces. Over decades he developed close relations with galleries, museums, curators, and auction houses while shaping his collection. He edited two important books about Asian art, Goa Made - An Archaeological Discovery, about a large-scale archaeological project carried out with the Italian and Indonesian governments, and Majapahit, Masterpieces from a Forgotten Kingdom.Weight: 7.3 gDimensions: Length 2.3 cm

A PALE CELADON JADE 'ELEPHANT' SEAL, QING DYNASTYChina, Qing dynasty (1644-1912). The rectangular seal surmounted by a finial finely carved as an elephant standing foursquare, the head gently turned to the right, incised with narrow eyes, a long curling trunk, and curved tusks. The translucent stone of a pale celadon color with a russet streak and icy inclusions. The seal face is carved with four characters, two reading 'Wen Xiang'. Roskell & Sons, Liverpool, a mahogany wall clock having an eight-day duration, weight-driven movement, the fourteen-inch round painted dial having black Roman numerals, blued-steel moon hands and indistinctly signed Roskell & Sons, Liverpool, 4105, with a cast-brass bezel, the mahogany case having a long trunk with crossbanding and inlaid stringing repeated to the base, height 115cm.Robert Roskell was a most energetic and enthusiastic chronometer, clock and watch maker who collaborated with Peter Litherland by incorporating the latter's patented rack lever in his watches. They are recorded as working at 21 - 23, Church Street, Liverpool from 1805 until 1873, as well as 13 - 14 Church Street in at least 1822 and also 31, Church Street in 1839. John Roskell junior is recorded at 21, Church Street. From 1796 the business was known as R. & J. Roskell, becoming Roskell & Son in 1848.
