DESCRIPTION: A Civil War trunk belonging to Lt. Ethan A Brown Company H 34th Ohio (1st Zouave) Reg. The Zouaves were a light infantry group primarily from French North Africa who fought alongside the Union Army during the Civil War. Trunk is comprised of wood and fitted with iron hardware and leather handles. A 19th century brass faced longcase grandfather clock believed to be by JN Wright of Linton. The brass and silvered dial / face with subsiduary dials having decorative spandrels. Set within an oak trunk and hood with glass front. Complete with weights and pendulum. Measures: 94cms high x 34cms wide x 18cms deep.
A modern burr walnut grandmother clock having a brass dial with silver chapter ring, figural spandrels, matted centre ad rolling moon phase to the arch. Powered by a three weight movement striking on rods being housed in an arch top case with brass finials scroll pierced frieze and frets with gilt mounted, ebonised fore columns. All over a long trunk door and raised on a mahogany plinth base. Measures: 190cms high x 48cms wide x 28cms deep.
A Victorian hallmarked silver centrepiece, the pierced circular upper platform set with grapes and vines above central trunk stem and two seated cherubic musicians, one playing a tambourine and one playing a horn, seated beside a lamb on a rococo scrolling base engraved with an armorial crest, Edward & John Barnard, London 1852, height 27.5cm, approx 65ozt. CONDITION REPORT: Missing some of the nuts holding the pieces in place so they are loose. However, overall condition is good. Stands true on a flat surface.
