A pair of 34 bore double barrelled over and under percussion boxlock side hammer pistols, by Wilkinson, 7" overall, barrels 2½” with swivel ramrods and London proofs, the top flats signed “WILKINSON, LONDON”; scroll engraved frames with safety bolt, and “elephant trunk” hammers; finely chequered walnut grips with rectangular silver escutcheons and steel butt caps with trap. GWO & C (slight bruising to one side of one grip); in their original green baize lined brass bound fitted oak case, with brass lid escutcheon, having trade label of James Wilkinson & Son, 27 Pall Mall, London, containing a short loading/cleaning rod, French copper flask embossed with leaves and tendrils, with central panels depicting a goat beneath a tree, nipple key (AF), and key to the case. A fine and rare late 18th century mahogany stick barometer with one-inch diameter glass tubeJohn Russell, FalkirkThe flat top with moulded cornice over a hinged glazed door, the waisted trunk terminating in an oval cistern cover and set to the front with a well carved reeded column to protect the one-inch diameter glass tube, with brass Corinthian capital and base (with traces of original lacquer), terminating in a brass capital and base, the arched silvered one-piece dial (12ins x 5.5ins) surmounted by a hygrometer dial over twin scales, to the left a mercury Centigrade thermometer with oval bulb and to the right with 27-31 inch scale with eight weather predictions, with manual sickle-shaped vernier. 110m (43ins) high (1)Footnotes:John Russell, born c.1745-1817, was a highly respected clock and watch maker who in his later life rose to become Watchmaker to his Royal Highness the Prince Regent. A 19thC oak country longcase clock, the shaped cornice surmounted by a brass orb and eagle finial flanked by two further brass finials above an arched trunk door, on stylised bracket feet, with painted 29cm diameter, Roman numeric and Arabic dial with floral spandrels, thirty hour movement with pendulum and weight, 207cm high.

William Dobbie, Falkirk. A 19thC Scottish mahogany drumhead longcase clock, with a carved scroll case raised above a widening trunk with arched door, on a panel base terminating in compressed bun feet, the 34cm diameter Roman numeric dial with subsidiary second hand and date aperture, stamped Willm. Dobbie Falkirk Clock Maker to The Queen with eight day movement, pendulum, two weights and key, 114cm high. William Dobbie was probably the most famous member of this family of clockmakers and was watch maker to Queen Victoria, he had work displayed in the 1851 Great Exhibition and was widely regarded as Falkirk's leading clock maker after the great John Russell.

A large and unusual metal steamer trunk in slatted wooden cage, c.1900, the black painted trunk with dark blue interior, the lid indistinctly inscribed (possibly 'Captain ??? Forestry Commission), four lever lock plate marked 'R. Cooper & Sons, Four Lever Hand Made', lacks key, the lid further secured by two sliding catches, within an iron bound pine cage, with side carrying handles, 45¼ x 25in. (115 x 63.5cm.), 24¼in. (60.25cm.) high, with removable glass coffee table top.

(100.5 x 50.75 x 43cm.), lacks handles and inner tray.

(219cm.) high.

(224.75cm.) high.
