Walter Tucker, Exeter a mahogany longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the twelve-inch break-arch silvered brass dial engraved with black Roman numerals, floral decoration to the four corners, Father Time to the arch, subsidiary seconds and date dials to the centre and engraved with the makers name Walter Tucker, Exeter, with a 'strike/silent' lever to the side, the mahogany case having canted corners to the trunk, crossbanding to the base and a swan-neck pediment with turned wooden centre finial and fluted columns to the hood, all standing on bracket feet, height 216cm.* Biography Walter Tucker, born circa 1801, was a member of the well-known Tucker watchmaking family being the son of John Tucker. He is recorded as working as a clock and watchmaker, silversmith and jeweller in the High Street from circa 1826 until 1848 before moving to 9, Belmont Terrace in circa 1850.* Notes Reference Clive N. Twist, Ormskirk, a mahogany moonphase longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell and having a typical Ormskirk fourteen-inch square painted moonphase dial with black Arabic numerals, florally painted decoration to the corners and signed for the maker Joseph Twist, Ormskirk, with the moonphase disc below XII painted with seascape and landscape images either side of the moon, and with decorative brass hands, the rear plate to the dial signed by the dial painter Walker & Hughes, Bham, the mahogany case having a shaped door with raised mouldings, the trunk with matching mouldings and flat fluted columns, the hood having a swan-neck pediment above a painted frieze with the tapered columns having cast-brass capitals, the base with raised mouldings and canted corners, height 212cm.*Biography Joseph Twist is recorded as living in Burscough Street, Ormskirk in 1854 as a maker of longcase clocks, all of them having eight-day movements, mahogany cases and painted dials. Her voice goes over wires and along cables to the exchange. He is balancing on his left foot, his four arms expanding around himself in a dynamic motion. He is wearing a short dhoti with ornamental patterns all over and his belly and chest are also decorated with beaded chains and necklaces. Two serpents meet at the front of his belly being used as his belts. In his right hands he is holding his own broken tusk and a goad, his other hands are holding a noose and a sweets ball. His trunk is holding a vessel. His head and trunk are also adorned with numerous jewellery, bracelets, flowers, etc. He has smaller ears and is wearing a three-leveled crown. From the back we see the same detail as from the front. The dancing Ganesha shows us his joyful side and shows a lot of contrasts, he is heavy but graceful, mischievous and serious and seems to embody wisdom but also the playfulness of a young child.

Ganesha has four arms and is sitting comfortably on his vehicle. He is wearing a short, striped dhoti. His big belly is tied up with the snake and he is wearing armlets, bracelets and a necklace. He is holding the battle axe and noose in two of his hands. His right hand is forming the abhaya mudra, gesture of fearlessness, while also holding a laddu ball between the thumb and index finger. His left hand is resting on his chest, possibly also holding his missing tusk in his palm. Ganesha's trunk is curled to his left shoulder, while his head is looking slightly to the left. He is wearing a decorative headpiece.

The serpent is easy to make out tied around his belly. His hands are raised to the front holding his own broken tusk and another object looking like a script. Usually he is holding sweets, a weapon or a lotus in his hand. He is reaching to this hand with his trunk. We can see one tusk is broken. His head is decorated with a conical tiered crown. His body has a slight curve at the hip.
