A Fine Edwardian musical longcase clock, the mahogany case with brass ball finial over swan neck pediment, boxwood marquetry frieze in a floral design, the arch glazed door enclosed by cast brass Corinthian column pilasters, having a satinwood cross banded case, full length trunk door and panelled base with conforming inlay. the brass and silvered dial with gilt spandrels, Roman and Arabic chapter ring and subsidiary dial for seconds and silent/strike, inscribed 142 Jays 144 Oxford street, London, eight day triple chain movement chiming Westminster and the hours on a series of coiled gongs, and Whittington on a nest of bells, complete with key, weights and pendulum. An 18th century German parquetry trunk of small dimensions beautifully inlaid and cross banded decoration with a range of different woods representing geometric shapes and stylised flowers and foliage, the lid lifting to reveal an interior with a hinged or lidded sub compartment to either side, with below a full width drawer and the whole raised on turned wood feet, 23 3/4'' wide (carrying handles fitted down) x 12 1/2'' deep x 14 1/4'' high approx, the old lock mechanism with key present.
