William Franklin, London; an 18th century lacquered longcase clock, decorated in the Chinoiserie style with village scene, figures and flora, the gilded and silvered dial set with Roman numerals, silvered plaque above 'William Franklin London', paper label to interior 'Pediment and arched brass dial with pierced spandrels, calendar movement by William Franklin London 1735', height 210cm. CONDITION REPORT Dimensions of clock approx 210 x 47cm (at widest point) x 24cm (at deepest). A few small dents to the silvered dial - mostly the numerals. Some minor scratches to dial. Crack to side left pane of glass. Losses to the case all over, along with chips, cracks, dents and crude restoration. Base of back left column missing. Evidence of worm (no longer prevalent). Door appears to have warped, slightly at hinges and top left hinge is loose, preventing the door from swinging into the trunk easily without force.Crudely painted decoration to base and hood do not match that of the trunk, which is far more ornate. Finials broken off but present.Weights present (possibly not original), no pendulum, wires replaced.Appears to be some damage to the movement, no winding or door keys. Trunk door lock broken.
