A pair of 19th century Staffordshire pearlware Walton pottery figures depicting "Elijah" and "Widow", each seated beside a tree trunk, he beside a raven's nest, she seated beside a barrel and flagon of ale with child close by, each with sieved clay decoration on a mottled green shaped circular base and inscribed "Walton" verso, 25 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Widow - Tip of tree trunk off. Losses to pieces under her arm. Sieved clay loss to adjacent to barrel. Surface dirty with brown markings. Elijah - Head restuck. Top of tree trunk off. Raven with loss to tip of one wing. Right hand missing. Minor losses to sieved clay to nest and area above inscription. Dirty with brown staining. SEE PHOTOS
A small 19th century green painted iron dome top trunk with applied strapwork decoration and loop carrying handle, with key CONDITION REPORTS Size approx 15.25cm wide, 11.25cm high. The casket/trunk has wear, scuffs and scratches, some rusting and denting. Painted finish is very worn, dirty and faded. Appear to have been some repairs to the fitment attaching one of the hinges.
A quantity of military ephemera relating to The Late WJN Cheatle, Lieutenant, 1st Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers, killed in action at The Dordinelles 26th April 1915 aged 27, to include a black and white photograph in ceremonial dress and sword, Mess red tunic with brass buttons and stitched collars, braided epaulettes, tartan trousers and maroon sash, a further tunic in red with blue collars and epaulettes with five KOSB regimental brass buttons, a George V King's Own Scottish Borderer's sword with steel grooved blade, snakeskin wire bound grip in scabbard with pierced knuckleguard by John Jones & Co. of Regent Street, London, a King's Own Scottish Borderer's silkwork panel worked in colours depicting two flags with Campaign Honours and coronet with lion rampant thistles, a King's Own Scottish Borderer's shoulder belt plate, photograph album with black and white regimental photographs and two photographs of a young boy (probably a young WJ Cheatle), photographs of Gallipoli, together with newspaper obituary notice, Syrian geographical map printed by The Survey of Egypt, Under Authority from The War Office, 22nd Jan 1917, General Staff No. 2321, military and naval pamphlets, two leather and white metal mounted scabbards, flag, leather bound water canister, belt and clothing contained in tin trunk inscribed "WJ Cheatle 1st KOSB" CONDITION REPORTS All items in used and worn condition and with some losses. Photo album, maps and booklets all with some discolouration, foxing, wear and tears to edges. Textiles with dirt, fading and stains, and some deterioration to silk hangings. Some knocks and tarnish to sword and to scabbards. Please see photos for examples, and detail. The sword blade bears a crown to one side and a castle emblem to the other side (both with wear), the edges of the blade are worn, and the inscription to the castle-emblem-decorated side is therefore partly worn away so that inscription now reads "THE", "....GS OW...." "....OTTISH..." "...DERER..." "....GYPT....".
An 18th century oak cased long case clock, the hood with moulded dentil cornice, glazed door flanked by split turned pilasters over a trunk door to a flat fronted plinth base, the square brass dial with Arabic and Roman numerals within foliate cast spandrels, the engraved centre with date aperture inscribed "Tho's Hillier, Frome" with thirty hour movement, 203 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Case with wear, chips and scuffs. Weight and pendulum with dents and mis-shaping. Case with some separating at joins. Hood with some chips and losses to mouldings and decoration.
An oak cased long case clock, the hood with moulded cornice, fretwork frieze and glazed door flanked by turned pilasters over an arched trunk door to a flat fronted base on bracket feet, the square brass dial with silvered chapter ring and Roman numerals bearing subsidiary tune selector dial inscribed "Th Geo March *Br: St: Home * f: every Glas" within applied mask head and scrolling spandrels, the centre with tulip and foliate engraved decoration, the brass plate inscribed "Edward Webb of Chew Stoke" with thirty hour musical movement striking on eight bells, 207 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Case with wear, chips and losses. Cracks and splits to case. Plinth and legs are later replacements. Various screwed and/or glued repairs. Some losses to mouldings.
An early 19th century figured mahogany cased long case clock of architectural form in the French Empire taste, the pointed arched hood with glazed door over a panelled trunk door flanked by stop fluted and gilt metal mounted pilasters to a flat fronted base, the square brass dial with Roman numerals, strike/silent subsidiary seconds dial inscribed "Barwise, London" with eight day striking movement, 193 cm high CONDITION REPORTS BRASS DIAL WITH SURFACE SCRATCHES AND BLACK LINE MARKINGS - SEE PHOTOS. CASE - HOOD WITH 3 INCH LOSS TO FLUTED FRIEZE. MOULDING LEFT AND RIGHT MISSING. PILASTERS FLANKING DOOR WITH WORM HOLES. BASE WITH MOULDING MISSING FRONT, LEFT AND RIGHT. ALSO VENEER LOSS TO SCROLL PILASTERS. REPLACEMENT AND LATER PAINTED MOVEMENT REST. BLOCK ATTACHED TO BACK. TIP OF WOODEN SHAFT TO PENDULUM BROKEN - SEE PHOTOS. Case overall in need of restoration.
