The hood is in good order. The silvered brass dial is clean. The movement is fairly clean and the clock is currently ticking away as it should. The clocks movement seatboard is a later replacement. The trunk door is not warped and the mahogany is well figured. The bottom plinth on the clock case is probably a later replacement but of good matching colour and in keeping with the rest of the case. There are some veneer repairs to the bottom rectangular panel and surround.

Height 96 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in generally first class condition. The left hand brass finial has a break across one of the knops which requires a minor repair. The hood is in very good order with no significant issues. The trunk door is flat and not warped and has the odd minor stress fracture but no significant issues. There is a small repair to the top centre arch. The quarter columns and blind fretwork are in good order as is the base and feet which are original. The sides of the clock have old minor stress fractures but no significant issues. The dial and movement are in extremely good condition. The clock is currently ticking and appears to be operating as it should. The clock was purchased from a respected clock dealer approximately 10 years ago. The case and movement are not married. The clock could be enjoyed or resold in its current state without the need for any significant repair or restoration other than the minor problem with the left hand finial.

There is some minor rubbing to the gilding but no significant issues. The trunk door is in good condition. It is not warped and the pattern and gilding are strong. The left hand side panel has a small rub and loss to one section of the moulded chrysanthemum. The right hand side is in less good condition with more significant losses to the raised gilt chrysanthemum and leaves. The base has minor losses to the gilding above the front and sides. The clock movement is complete but requires a complete clean. It is very dirty and dusty.

Los 1338

An early Victorian mahogany longcase clock, with swans neck pediment above the arched glazed door enclosing the painted dial with moon phase, the spandrels emblematic of the four seasons and the centre depicting the Empire, dial with 14 ins, and with eight day striking movement, with short trunk door and conforming base. Los 1396

An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, by George Innes of Glasgow, with circular dial and well figured mahogany case raised on bracket feet. CONDITION REPORT: There is a small section of veneer missing to one of the rounded corners on the pediment. The remainder of the hood is in good order. The trunk door is in good condition and not warped. The base of the clock is similarly in good order. There are some minor scuffs around the bracket feet as one would expect. The movement is reasonably clean and we have the weights and pendulum. We have not had the clock operating as the small metal strip at the top of the pendulum is missing. The clock face is in original condition with strong colours and some minor surface scratches but no significant issues. Both the strike mechanism and going mechanism operate when weight is applied to the pulleys suggesting that with the minor repair to the top of the pendulum the clock is likely to run.

Los 1425

There is a small veneer loss to the top rear of the hood approximately 2cm long and 3mm wide. This is right at the back by the wall. There are also further minor stress cracks across the top of the hood. Other than this the hood is in first class condition. The movement is extremely clean and ticking away. We have the pendulum. The clock appears to be striking as it should . The trunk door is not warped and the sides of the clock and base are all in first class condition. There is no need for any repair or restoration.
