A Louis Vuitton cabin trunk , the interior numbered 159417 and labelled 1, Rue Scribe, Paris and 149, New Bond Street, London, the central brass catch marked Louis Vuitton, Rue Scribe, Paris, to the inside back of the lid, with its original leather carrying handles, width 79.5cm, height 35.5cm, depth 49.5cm. (See illustration) Provenance: Formerly the property of the Jeanne Honrrie Touson who worked for Boucheron jewellers, and in these cases transported jewellery for the pleasure of Kind George. During the war, they ran a Grocer's shop in Dieppe, but when Mussolini began to side with Germany, they were forced to evacuate. Jeanne sold all of her jewellery to pay for passage, and packed anything that would fit in these trunks. After the war, she returned to her parents in London, who ran Kettners restaurant in Soho, remaining in Britain until she died. Condition Report: Metal slightly rusted/oxidised throughout, each rivet marked Louis Vuitton. Exterior decoration generally good, a little damage along the lines of the panels. Leather carrying handles are good.

A 19th Century mahogany rosewood and brass inlaid combined drop-dial wall clock and mercurial barometer signed George Holden of Sheffield With a 44.5cm dial with Roman numerals enclosed by a bowfront glass with gilt metal bezel, the two train eight day movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell with four turned pillars, the trunk centered with a rosewood inlaid wheel barometer enclosed by gilt brass stringing with a 26cm silvered register with a bowfront glass and gilt bezel above a mirror within a reeded frame with an outer brass roundel recess for a thermometer with two hinged doors on each side with a tapering base, 148cm, with two weights, pendulum, winding key and two door keys. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 2038: Bevelled glass the outer glass metalwork oxidised and discoloured. Hinge good condition. Hasp on left hand side good condition. Signature indistinct, overall crazing to dial numerals clear, left hand door hinge sound, right hand door hinge sound. Lower long door on left and right side hinges good condition. Minor cutting away around the left hand door keyhole. Lacking central thermometer above a glass mirror the reeded border shrinkage cracks in six places some oxidisation to the brass roundel surface scratching to the barometer dial, oxidisation the the metal bezel, metal stringing framing the barometer lifted sightly on the right hand side, undercut base central shrinkage crack running the full length good condition. With weights, pendulum and door housing case key and winding key.

An early 19th Century inlaid mahogany longcase clock With a 36cm arched dial signed Barraclough Thornton with subsidiary seconds and date dials, the arch painted with a pastoral landscape with shepherd and shepherdess, the single train 30 hour movement with outside countwheel striking on a saucer bell, the case with a swan neck cresting above turned wood columns, the trunk with a short inlaid door flanked by fluted quarter columns raised upon an inlaid plinth base and shaped bracket feet. 240cms.

A George IV oak and inlaid longcase clock With a 35.5cm white arched dial signed Jn Callcott, Cotton, dated 1819, with subsidiary seconds with Roman and Arabic numerals and date aperture, the spandrels painted with flowers, the lunar calendar with a masted vessel and a landscape, the two train eight day movement with anchor escapement, rack striking on a saucer bell, the case with a swan neck cresting, inlaid frieze applied with gilt metal and anthemion's, spirally turned brass capped columns, the trunk crossbanded with an inlaid shaped door flanked by reeded quarter columns raised upon a plinth base with two weights, pendulum, winding and door keys, requires restoration. 226cms.

An 18th Century and later mahogany case longcase clock With a 27cm brass dial signed Wright, Northwich with Roman numerals, date aperture, mask and leaf spandrels the single train movement with outside count wheel striking on a later overhead bell, the case with a cavetto cornice above a plain frieze, the slender trunk with a shaped door flanked by fluted quarter columns raised upon a panel plinth base and bracket feet, 211cms, plinth 39cms wide, with one weight and pendulum.

A fine Victorian mahogany and inlaid three train chiming longcase clock With a 32cm brass and silvered dial signed Selfridge London with Arabic numerals within roundels subsidiary seconds dial the centre with gilt blind fret scrolls spandrels, the arch with subsidiary chime silent Whittington and Westminster dials the substantial movement striking on eight gongs with a 18cm brass pendulum bob the case with a swan neck resting with leaf and flower roundels above gilt brass capped fluted columns the trunk with bevelled glass panels flanked by similar columns raised upon a panelled plinth base the raised panel inlaid with marquetry depicting a dragon and Jermyn Court London S. W. raised upon a plinth base, with three substantial weights largest 30cm x 8.5cm diameter with a winding key, case key, pendulum and three weights. Approximately 250cm high with the plinth 56cm x 37cm (illustrated)

A Fine 18th Century Dutch marquetry longcase clock, signed Jan Bernardus Vrijthoff With a 13", 33cm brass and silvered dial signed Jan Bernardus Vrijthoff Hagae with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture with a central alarm dial above a date register, cast spandrels emblematic of the four seasons with a lunar calendar in the arch with a moon phase above half roundels engraved with a sportsman and a figure smoking a pipe the two train eight day movement with anchor escapement striking the half hour and hours on two overhead bells the case with a caddy top surmounted with a gilt metal figure of Hercules supporting a globe blue with stars flanked by carved wood figures the shaped trunk with a moulded border inlaid with a vase of blooms of leaves and a bird above glass lenticle enclosed by a figure seated on a cow within a shell leaf and mask border above a classical urn with flowers and leaves, the shaped canted plinth inlaid with a bird perched upon a vase flower and leaf strewn ground raised upon a shaped plinth and bun feet. 259cms. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 2075: A Dutch clock, a heading case the bell shape top fret-work carving in good condition. Central figure of Hercules good condition. Left and right figures good condition, minor to the edge of the trumpet to the winged angel, small repair to left arm of the opposing angel attached to the trumpet. Frieze below Hercules blind fret-work good condition. Marquetry inlay to dial door good condition. Some oxidization to the metal at the top and bottom of each column. Fine fret-work side panels in good condition. Oxidisation to the metal of the inset columns at the back on each side. Trunk, marquetry in good condition, long door marquetry in good condition canted angles and sides marquetry in good condition, the plinth base the central panel a shrinkage crack running left to right approximately 32cm, which is near the bottom of the plinth approximately 27cm down from the top of the panel. Side panels good condition, plinth good condition. Circular bun feet old can not guarantee if they are original back bracket feet. The movement good condition large and small saucer bell with two hammers, not been running. With pendulum and door key presently weights are missing.
