There is a small circular stain along the upper left corner. The artwork is hinged with two pieces of framing tape along the upper edge. The artwork is floated in the frame. Along the four corners of the verso there are four square areas with adhesive residue; likely from a previous framing, does not affect the recto. Light wear to the frame. Framed under glass. The paper backing has been cut along three edges to inspect the piece.

Curtis "Curt" Dunnavan (1926-2022) was a passionate world traveler and avid collector. It was through his travels that he was inspired to begin a lifelong relationship with the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia), becoming a major sponsor of the institute and facilitating the growth of their Asian art department, which is now one of the best in the country. His generous donations to Mia allowed them to establish a fund for the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer, one of the few endowed positions of this type in the museum field. He additionally served as a trustee of the institute, advocating for its operational growth. In its turn, the museum established a gallery named in his honor in recognition for his endowment fund and numerous contributions to their collection. The selections here showcase his talent and breadth of collecting, ranging from ancient statues to 19th-century woodblock prints. No visible soiling. There is visible reverse acidic burn. Along the verso, there is possibly liquid damage to the upper left quadrant, measuring 3 1/2 inches. Throughout the verso, there are networks of minute black accretions; however, it appears to be original ink and does not affect the recto. To the center of the lower margin along the verso, there is a minute area of original ink residue that does not affect the recto. By the left of it, there is a minute tear, not visible from the recto. Along the back of the board, there is possible liquid damage; please see the listing image. WW2 German 1939 Knights Cross of the Iron Cross Steinhauer & Luck Type A Micro 800 Attributed to Luftwaffe Oberfeldwebel Fredrich Kralemann, the cross is a fine example which has all the characteristic and die flaws associated with Knights Cross awards made by this maker. The micro 800 silver mark to the frame is just under the ring on the rear of the cross. The ribbon ring is also stamped with the 800 silvermark. The award has a area of the beading damaged on the reverse of the cross which was said to have been caused when Kralemann’s aircraft crashed. Silver frame shows nice patina and the central core remains in near mint condition. The award is accompanied by a piece of the original ribbon. The award is accompanied by a grouping of papers relating to Kralemann and print outs relating to his other awards and their sale etc. Overall a good example of a desirable award.

Some entries in the 20 printed pages of the book. Some wear, loose pages and staining. No awards noted in the book; Accompanied by a Black Grade Wound badge citation awarded to Gefreiter Nikolaus Hafner 14./Grenadier Regiment Nr 546, awarded for a wound received on 31st January 1944 and awarded at St Johann on 22nd February 1944. Signed by regimental administration officer. Accompanied by certificate for rank promotion of Hafner and a re-print Third Reich period postcard.
Impressive Photograph Album of Boer War and Indian Army Delhi Durbar Interest, fine album with large print images beginning with scenery of South Africa at the time of the Boer War, good images of a Military parade in Pretoria in 1905, images of Boer prisoners, image of Boer general Christiaan de Wet, famous artillery gun ‘Long Tom’, groups of British officers, etc. Album then moves to outside of South Africa and includes good images of Royal Artillery and large format images of Indian Army officers during the Delhi Durbar 1911. Loose in the front are some pen and ink sketches of enemy positions in South Africa during the Boer War. The pages of the album have become loose but the images remain clear and most are annotated with people and locations identified.
