"Churchill (Rt. Hon. Winston S., 1874-1965). Signed black and white photo postcard ('Winston S. Churchill'), in black ink, 'Inscribed for Lady [Ruth] Lee' and dated 1946. at foot of image showing Churchill in bowler hat with walking cane and luggage coming down a house step [Chequers?], laid down on card which in turn is lightly adhered to the inside blank page of a Christmas card with a mounted col. print after Churchill's painting ""The Messenger"", the greetings page with a note to Lady Lee in Clementine's hand dated December 1955, telling that she is very happy that Lady Lee is pleased about the ""Avenue"", 'In less than 50 years it should be beautiful', and sending their best wishes for Christmas and the New Year, signed 'Clementine S. Churchill', a few minor creases and marks. In 1917 Lord and Lady Lee presented Chequers to serve as a country residence for the serving Prime Minister of the day. Churchill had left Chequers as Prime Minister in July 1945. (1)"
