After Carle Vernet (French, 1758–1836) Leloutre, [circa 1830]. Three stipple-engraving by Darcis. LES APPRETS D'UNE COURSE, L'ARIVEE DE LA COURSE and LES JOCKEYS MONTES. Print size inc text measures 23.5cm by 34cm. Framed in ebonised and gilt frames and glazed by The Medici Sociry 7 Grafton St London. Vernet was a member of a prominent family of French painters. His father was a well-known marine painter, but Carle rose to fame during the Empire with his drawings of the Italian campaign and his paintings: "The Battle of Marengo" and "Morning of Austerlitz". During the Restoration he was popular as a lithographer and painter of dogs, horses, racing and scenes of the hunt. His son, Émile Jean Horace Vernet, 1789-1863 went on to become one of the most popular military painters of the 19th century.

An early Victorian style citrine ring with reeded shoulders and engraving surrounding the foiled back citrine. Finger size T, weight 4.1gms Condition Report:Mount is hollow, it has been resized at some point and there are a few shallow dents to the shank, small chip to the citrine, possibly a surface reaching inclusion as there is a finger print inclusion right by it. a little lead solder is visible with a loope around the setting of the citrine. Dirt / water ingress behind the foiled closed back setting.,
Dr Geoffrey Sparrow (1887-1969) Four seasonal greetings cards by the artist, uniformly mounted and framed in pairs, including a view of a dog in front of a fire entitled 'To wish you well with warmth and no worry', an otter hunting scene 'Otter Hunting - to ground', a view of an escaping fox, and a view of bloodhounds eating from a trough at dusk, various printing techniques, two pencil signed to the margin by the artist, 43 x 28 cm Sparrow was born in Devon in 1887 and studied medicine at Cambridge and St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. Sparrow served with distinction as a Surgeon Lieutenant in the First World War. He was awarded the Military Cross along with a number of other medals; although he wrote about his military experiences, he never gave the reason why he was awarded the MC. After the Great War, he moved to Horsham and at the age of 53, served again in the Second World War in both Europe and Africa. In the post-War years Dr Sparrow was a prolific sketcher, caricaturist, print maker and watercolour artist, his subjects largely involved hunting scenes. His fame as an artist spread, and although people knew of his medical background - few knew about his war record and achievements. The Imperial War Museum, London now has his First World War diaries in their collections illustrated by Sparrow with comic sketches.
Two 19th Century miniatures, one of a gentleman with blue jacket and white cravat and the other of a young lady with high collared dress, a cut out image of a lady beside table inscribed "L Bruce Faringdon Street, London & Somerset Place, Brighton" to base and an Angelica Kauffman style print all housed in ebonised frames together with a copy of Christie's Silhouette & Portrait Miniature sale catalogue 12th May 1993 CONDITION REPORTS The gent only - no visible cracks however there is a raised area on the right hand side of the miniature and appears to have been restored in some way. Otherwise general wear and tear, dirt, etc. Crazing to the frame. Appears to be a scratch underneath the glass under his left lapel as you look at him. See images for more details.

There is a visible rip on the left hand edge. Some small areas of foxing visible to the edge as well in the bottom left hand corner. General wear and tear conducive with age and use including frame and glass needing a clean both inside and out. See images for more details.
