Japan 1975 No 19/100"Kyoto Winter" Dimensions: 65 cm x 47 cm Original signed woodblock print "Kyoto Winter", by Clifton Karhu, 1975.Original, signed woodblock print of exceptional size, by the highly popular American woodblock print artist Clifton Karhu (1927-2007). Born in Minnesota, Karhu moved to Japan in the 1950s, taking up a carrier in art later in the decade.
Ramsgate interest: a very rare William IV or early Victorian small pottery souvenir mug, printed in puce with a view of the Royal Harbour and the texts 'A Present From Ramsgate' and 'A View of Ramsgate Harbour', the view here is closely based on the print published in 1829 by C. Bedford after George Sidney; slight staining, hairline crack to rim.

The first, black silk ground, embroidered with white, blue and purple flowers to the long sleeves, with turquoise lining, the second in black and dark purple damask, with floral embroidery to pale green sleeves, with black ruyi-shaped edging, the long robe with striped black, yellow, red and blue fabric, lined in floral cotton print The black ground robe with some fraying to cream fringing at edging, some wear to collar. The purple and black silk robe with several holes, some tearing around collar, old repairs to lining. The long striped robe ok, some minor wear.
