*Amended Description* A Shanghai school watercolour, second half of the 19th century, painted with a bird in a fruit tree, 17 x 23.5cm (6.75 x 9.25 in), in a black frame, together with a print of a blue bird on a branch of sweet chestnut, signed and with seal mark in red, 52.5 x 37.5cm (20.75 x 14.75 in), in a card mount (2) The Shanghai watercolour was attributed to Am Tso Un. It came from the Bible translator into Chinese L Hutchinson. Some foxingand dirt to the edges of the first which is in a cream card mount
Utagawa School, nine 19th century wood block prints, three by Toyokuni III of figures in interiors, a diptych and a samisen player by Kunichika, a Kuniyoshi of three awed men, a Yoshiiku print of a man painting a scroll on a terrace, oban together with a Yoshisada print of two swordsmen, oban yoko-e (9) The Yoshisada has the corners folded in and has staining/dirt to the right hand half
A Kunisada (1786-1865) and a Kuniyoshi (1797-1869) woodblock print, the first of a soldier coming away from pine tree holding a naginata, oban in cream mounts and the second of a samurai plunging his naginata into a black lacquer trunk, oban ina black frame (2) The Kunisda has some staining/foxing in the lower half. The Kuniyoshi has some dirt and a small tearin the bottom left hand corner
Toyonobu (1769-1824), a woodblock print together with three others, the first of a samurai family walking, oban, the second in black after Kiyonaga showing a child writing, an early 20th century print of a bird flying from wheat, 20.5 x 26cm (8 x 10.25 in) and the last Chinese of a butterfly and flower, 24.5 x 31cm (9.75 x 12.25 in) all framed Both the Toyokuni and Kiyonaga are in poor condition. The Chinese print has browned.
