This lot includes a print of Monsieur Vestris Senior, by J.Miller, published in London April 1781, approx 10w x 18 h cms and another of Monsieur Vestris Junior, published London April 1781, approx 9.4 x 14 cms, both framed and glazed. Note: These two were the most celebrated 18th century father and son ballet virtuoso. Vestris Junior helped establish ballet as a stand alone pursuit quite separate from Opera, this propelled ballet into the serious art form we see today. Note: Property of a Yorkshire lady.

Rare silk ballet programme, Anna Pavlova performing at The Empire Theatre Calcutta, India, Tuesday January 16th 1923 featuring Anna Pavlova in the Presence of Her Excellency The Countess of Lytton, the programme included the Polish Wedding, Flora's Awakening and III Divertissements, 18.3 x 27.3 cms. This lot includes a black and white photographic print of Anna Pavlova in her most notable roll Dying Swan, laid on board, indistinct signature across the body approx 19.5 x 25 cms. Footnote: In 1922 Miss Pavlova was the first ballerina to embark on a world tour, including Australia, India, South America, The Far East and the United States. She danced in countries where very different dance forms existed. She was influenced by these many dance forms and created a ballet called 'Oriental Impressions' with Uday Shankar, a ballet of divertissements in Japanese and Indian styles. She performed a duet with Uday Shankar (Shangar) which was presented at the Royal Opera House. Miss Pavlova's performances inspired many youngsters to take up ballet, including British prima-ballerina Alicia Markova.

A floral dress in a colourway of orange, mustard and lime on a duck egg blue background, covered buttons, metal zip and high waist by Canda, size 12, mid 1960s. A Horrockses' late 1950s cotton dress with shoe-string straps and metal zip, and a matching bolero. The fabric is floral print in heather blue and deep blue with green foliage on a white background.
