A Royal Worcester part dessert service, date code 1908/09, each with hand painted rose leaves against a blush pink, yellow and blue ground, printed and impressed marks, inscribed No. W6934. CONDITION REPORT: The square dish is in good order and rings out nicely when tapped. There are six plates. Two plates with red rose decoration appear to have a lot of the enamel missing. This should be visible from our online image. There is a further plate with a rosebud and this has slight enamel losses and also there are some white patch marks to the left of the bud. The two rose plates with the large amount of enamel losses also have large patches of faded/rubbed areas just to the left of the flowers and before the rim. The yellow rose plate has a large thumb print size patch erased to the right of the flower just before the rim. Each plate has small surface marks and light scratches. Having said that all plates are free from visible chips, cracks and further flaws and all ring out nicely when lightly tapped.
Mabel Lucie Attwell for Shelley, a nursery breakfast set "Fairies Love Motoring All About ..", comprising cup, saucer, cereal bowl and side plate, printed marks to underside. Side plate diameter 17.8 cm. CONDITION REPORT: On first appearance the teacup looks to be in immaculate order however there is a very tiny nibble to the rim just above the handle from which issues an almost full length vertical crack which then veers off to the left just beneath the Mabel Lucy Atwell label and terminates just before the rear of the front wheel arch. The decoration on the cup appears to be unmarked and in good order. The saucer is in good order throughout, the transfer and colours are in almost pristine condition, there are a couple of very small scratches to the rear wheel of the car. The saucer rings out when tapped and is free from any chips, cracks or restorations. The side plate appears to be in good order albeit there are a few small scratches to the body of the car and further smaller scratches throughout the plate but these are only notable by using a magnifier. The plate rings out when tapped and is free from any faults, restorations or repairs. On the cereal bowl the transfer print has minor scratches visible through a magnifying glass but appears to be in good order throughout. The bowl rings out when tapped. There are no signs of any chips, cracks or restorations.
A pair of copper plate engravings after Samuel and Nathanial Buck, the North West view of Cockermouth Castle in the county of Cumberland, and the South West view of Egremont Castle in the county of Cumberland, both hand coloured, plate 19.5 cm x 37.5 cm, each mounted in Hogarth style frames. CONDITION REPORT: Both prints are in generally good condition. Neither are significantly faded and the coloured sections are still quite strong. There is no evidence of any repairs or restoration. Both mounts are slightly discoloured with minor foxing marks to the mount but not the prints. The Egremont Castle print has what appear to be dead harvest flies on the mount extremities. The Hogarth frames are both in good condition. Both prints are under glass which will have helped to protect them.
