This fine 1979 4.2 Jaguar XJ6 has spent more of its life stationary than being used but on the whole has been MOT’d throughout its life. You can see on the DVLA register back to 2005 where it has covered less than 750 miles since then. It has however been sat for the last few years and now will need alongside cosmetic work and recommissioning. While the body appears to be very solid, very straight and with no heavy corrosion, the paint is poor with crazing all over. The vinyl roof and outer chrome trims are all good.Inside the rare to find cloth trim is very nice, needing little more than a clean. Wood work is good apart from some minor repairs required to the lacquer in places on the dash. All instrumentation switches etc are original and work, including all four electric windows. The roof lining cloth centre part has been removed and the side pieces have been retrimed in what once would have been fashionable “Leopard print fur”!The engine runs with excellent oil pressure and no smoke. A member of staff has driven it gently down a private road and reports the brakes and gearbox function correctly, power steering is light with no noise from the pump.So recommission, MOT and drive as is or fully restore but start with a running driving solid car? This lovely old Jag gives you that choice and comes with its original leather owner’s wallet complete with books.
