The following is a statement from the vendor; My paternal grandmother Phyllis Parkinson (ne Earnshaw) lived in Midgley near Wakefield. She was a big fan of Lowry but could only afford the copy. A close friend, ‘Aunt Marjorie’ had a connection with Lowry and took her picture to him which he kindly signed and added the sentence about what the painting depicted on the reverse, again signing it. Measuring 46.5cm x 61.5cm excluding frame and mount.
