JOHN LEE HOOKER - SINGS BLUES - A ultra rare original 1st US pressing of John Lee Hooker's 1960 LP "Sings Blues" (KING 727). This pressing has the "crownless" King label with silver print. This version has the original pearls on the front- this record was later reissued in 1962 which was split in red and blue. The condition of the record is a strong VG. There are some light surface marks, but no deeper scratches or "feelable" marks. The labels are nice and clean with only minor signs of spindle wear. The sleeve is in VG condition. The heavy card sleeve shows little wear on the front, with just very light edge wear. On the rear there are two pen markings that read 1315E- these are small and are placed in the top right corner. This album shows examples of the gripping synthesis of folk blues and electric power that marks Hooker's early work, and must not be missed.
BOP/JAZZ - Collection of 48 x LP's to include some earlier pressings as well as later US and EU issues. To include Jaki Byard - The Jaki Byard Experience (PR 7615), Benny, Ben & Barney - BBB (Xtra 5008), Richard Davis - Way Out West (Muse MR 5180), J.R. Monterose + Joe Abodeely Trio - In Action (limited print on Studio 4 VSOP 1) and Stasch - The Prestige Blues-Swingers (Prestige SwingVille 2013). Condition is generally VG+ to Ex.
