"In Rome, parallel to the early Maronite enterprise there was an effort by the press of the SCPF to print for another Catholic Syriac church, the Chaldean Church. For this enterprise, it was necessary to print in the Eastern script. The Press of the SCPF made two attemps at this script, the first (with no vowels) in 1633 (R. Bellarmino, 'Dottrina Christiana') and the second, a more practical type with vowel points cast on, around 1767.
