A Royal Mail Prestige Booklet and Postage Due Collection From Stamps for Cooks 1969 to Battle of Trafalgar 2005, with one or two gaps (twenty-three booklets in total), including Definitive Portrait (2), Profile on Print, Special by Design, Golden Jubilee (2), Microcosmos and Coronation, many of which have N.V.I. stamps meaning their face value has increased to over £230, with complete mint sets and postage dues 1951-1952, 1959-1963 and 1968-1969 no watermark; and a further twenty-two Post Office counter stamp booklets, sometimes first class N.V.I.
*Limited Edition Motoring Print. A large, vertical format, framed, double-mounted (with a mirrored surround) and glazed coloured print in an 'art nouveau' style, depicting a couple seated in a Bugatti outside Maxim's restaurant, with other figures, including the doorman and a page-boy, standing in the entrance. Number 181 of a Limited Edition of 220 copies, signed in pencil by the artist (name indecipherable) in the lower right-hand corner. Sheet size 74 x 58cm. (1)
*Limited Edition Motoring Print. Another print by the same artist as the preceding lot, and in a similar style, depicting an Edwardian couple standing by their open-drive limousine (the chauffeur at the wheel), outside 'Laperouse' on the Quai Des Grands Augustins. Number 78 of a Limited Edition of 220 copies, again signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right-hand corner. Sheet size 75 x 58cm. (1)
*'Bloques' by Georges Meunier (1869-1942), French Painter, Printmaker, Illustrator and Poster Designer - a limited edition signed print. A large image in a horizontal format depicting a veteran car stranded in the middle of a field surrounded by a huge flock of sheep, the driver and his two passengers gesticulating wildly while a group of farm-workers look on in the right-hand background and, on the left-hand side, a steam passenger train passes by on a railway embankment. Apparently issued in 1905 in a limited edition of 100 copies, this one numbered 60, and signed by the artist in pencil in the bottom margin on the right-hand side. The red print in the bottom margin reads: Ed. Sagot - Editeur -Paris, Imp. Chaix, Paris, Tous droits reserves. Printed artist's signature and the date '05' in the bottom right-hand corner of the image. Very good colour, as illustrated in The Motor Car in Art by Zolomij, Automobile Quarterly Pub, 1990. Print size, including the margins, 36 x 53cm, mounted, framed and glazed. (1)
