Michael PORTER (1948) 26-06-11, Coastal Path Acrylic, gouache and print on watercolour paper, signed and titled verso, 32cm x 29cm, 46cm x 42cm framed. Porter has lived and worked from Newlyn, Cornwall since 1997. He was awarded an Honorary Fellowship, Falmouth University 2007 and an Honorary Doctorate from The University of Derby, 1999. In 1982-3 he was Artist in Residence at the National Gallery, London. Selected prized include 2010 National Open Painting Competition, Chichester, UK, 2005 Odin Award, RWA, Bristol, England, 2004 Arts Council Major Award and The Lorne Award, London University in 1993-94. He had a solo exhibition at Newlyn Art Gallery, with this possibly being one of those pieces displayed at the time.

A superb image created by artist, Alan Stammers of Fangio winning the 1957 German Grand Prix at the wheel of the legendary Maserati 250F. On this day it was Fangio's greatest race and his finest result and also his last Grand Prix drive. Fangio was five-time Formula 1 World Champion. The print was hand-signed by Fangio at the Dorchester Hotel, London, shortly before his passing in 1991. Framed and glazed, this print measures 95cm x 76cm and is also signed and dated '90' by the artist and numbered 260/750.
