I’ve discussed your print with Bob Gwynne, our Associate Curator of Rail Vehicles. Bob was a key part of the team that organised our Mallard 75 events in 2013 and he believes that it is likely that it is related to a gathering of former Mallard drivers during the 50th anniversary celebrations in 1988. He is going to check with some of the Doncaster drivers he is in contact with to try to confirm this
