John Dadley British 1767-1817- 'Workmen of China', after Pu Qùa, Cantòn, Publ. 4th May 1799, by W. Miller, London; crayon manner engravings with hand-colouring, three, 30x22.5cm ea. (in matching frames): Clark & Dubourgh, British act. 1808-1838- 'The Stand of the Hackney Coachman', after Mornay, Publ. by Edward Orme, London; aquatint with hand-colouring, 26x33cm., (4) CONDITION REPORT: All prints in gilded, glazed frames. The three oriental prints are in matching frames although only two have the same coloured mount and the other print in in a water gilded frame with cream mount. All prints are unexamined out of the frame. The frames for the oriental prints all have cracked glass and some loss of gilding on the corners. The oriental prints have all suffered from discolouration in the main part of the image - where the paper is darker in the middle - leaving a brown shadow impression on the work, due to time-fading and exposure to light and/or heat there is a prominent mark where tape has discoloured the sheet The other print of the Coachman has suffered some discolouration and brown staining on the lower half of the image. The edges of the print are not shown as they are cropped by the mount, so the measurements reflect this , as it has not been taken out of the frame. Some loss of gilding on the front of the frame is also visible. Otherwise it appears to be in relatively good condition.
