Richard Andrew Palethorpe-Todd OBE (11 June 1919 - 3 December 2009) was an Irish-British actor known for his leading man roles of the 1950s. He received a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer - Male, and an Academy Award for Best Actor nomination and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor nomination for his performance as Corporal Lachlan MacLachlan in the 1949 film The Hasty Heart. His other notable roles include Jonathan Cooper in Stage Fright (1950), Wing Commander Guy Gibson in The Dam Busters (1955), Sir Walter Raleigh in The Virgin Queen (1955), and Major John Howard in The Longest Day (1962). He was previously a Captain in the British Army during World War II, fighting in the D-Day landings as a member of the 7th (Light Infantry) Parachute Battalion. Good condition Est.

TSUKIOKA YOSHITOSHI 月岡 芳年 (1839-1892) Fudō Myōō Threatening a Novice Triptych of oban tata-e / woodblock prints Dated Showa 18 equivalent to 1885 in the margin Dimensions (each print): 35,7 x 24,4 cm Notes: 1. Tsukioka Yoshitoshi was one of the great innovators of Meiji ukiyo-e. A legend about Abbot Yūten (1637-1718) of Zōjōji Temple tells how, as a novice, he prayed for Fudō Myōō's aid to become a wise monk. He then dreamed that the statue of Fudō leaped down from its pedestal and made him swallow one of his swords; upon waking, he became an excellent cleric. In this scene, Fudō aims his sword at Yūten while the deity's attendants witness his magical power. Compare with a related triptych housed in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum, accession number 2005.350a-c.

The collaborative series included the work of Shoda Koho (1871-1946), Arai Yoshimune (1873-1945), Kobayashi Kiyochika (1847-1915), Gyosui Suzuki (1898-) and Eijiro Kobayashi (1870-1946) and Yoshimoto Gesso (1881-1936).

During a span of twenty-six years, he produced 166 masterfully printed colour woodcuts. His inventive compositions reveal a synthesis of traditional Japanese printing techniques with modern European aesthetics and are examples of superb craftsmanship. Our piece is a testimony of his travels to China and Mongolia and his observation of local customs and clothes. Keith's work consists of prints depicting Asian life and culture,[4] a fascination she acquired when she travelled to Tokyo at the age of 28 and remained there for nine years. Uncontestably, one of the best signature of the Shin Hanga art movement.
