NANCY ROTHWELL; oil portrait of a gentleman, 30 x 22cm and three small abstract works by the same artist, 'Space', 'Party Time' and one untitled work, also Grace Horne; a limited edition print 'Su-Lee' no.1/6 (Sue Lee was a life model for the Liverpool School of Art for many years), all framed and glazed (5).
The original copper printing plate by Rockliff Bros Ltd of Liverpool to produce the City of Liverpool Diploma of the Nautical College, the large plate beautifully decorated with ships' telegraph, telescopes, sextant, chronometer, crossed oars, anchor, flags, etc and sold with a rolled vellum certificate showing how it would print, the plate 58 x 42.5cm. CONDITION REPORT The plate is slightly curved with some surface scratches and surface marks, but this is because it has never been cleaned. Provenance: this lot is from a private collection in Surrey and the vendor's father taught at Liverpool Maritime College many years ago.
An early 19th century hand coloured engraving of Captain Sir Murray Maxwell, KCB, RN (1775-1831), a distinguished Naval officer who fought during the Napoleonic wars, 'See verso for details', 33 x 27cm and a Vanity Fair coloured print of Admiral 'Jacky' Fisher RN (1841-1920) whose distinguished Naval career included the introduction of the 'Dreadnoughts' and holding High Command during the First World War, a 'Spy' cartoon published by Vanity Fair, November 6th 1902, 34 x 22cm, both framed and glazed (2). CONDITION REPORT Some small damage to lower right hand corner, no signs of foxing or damage to the print.
