Frank Wootton OBE (1911-1908): Battle Of Britain Memorial Trust limited edition print, bearing 21 pencil signatures including Johnnie Johnson, Robert 'Bob' Foster, Gerald 'Stapme' Stapleton, John Peel, John Gibson, William 'Billy' Fiske and others. 232/500, 68 x 45cm, overall 86 x 65cm. At the outbreak of WWII, Wootton volunteered for the Royal Air Force but instead was invited by the commander-in-chief of the Allied Air Forces to accept a special duty commission as war artist to the RAF and RCAF. He painted RAF subjects from England to France and Belgium before travelling to Southeast Asia at the end of World War II. For his service, Wootton was awarded an OBE three years prior to his death.
